Postby Sojourner » Sun Jun 22, 2008 6:10 pm

Just wondering what has become of the idea of Norwood playing some home matches at Golden Grove?

I don't think that was ever the idea, that was just a rumour somebody started. The plan as I understood and certainly what the club said was always for some of the junior teams to train and play the odd game out there and I think that's happening.

I played a couple of years at Golden Grove in the ammos...

Apart from the ATCO huts for changerooms, the oval is a pearler to play on...

Don't think Norwood would want to play games there, can hardly get any crowd over on the creek side

Harpers field will soon become the best oval in the North Eastern Suburbs if and when the Federal Government throw in some of the on again, off again funding that they keep on talking about. Currently the oval at Ridgehaven across from the Masonic Homes complex is probably the best in the area to host an SANFL game.

They haven't been talking about it for 5 years, there was never anything to talk about :? . Perhaps you have been. The advatage is for the U17's who the club thought had too far to travel for training nights. Often with that age it's the parents that have to drive them around which made it even more appealing. That was all it was ever going be a training ground for junior players.

This thread is about as pointless as the West Torrens / Woodville unmerger thread.

North base their juniors (or plan to if not fulltime now) at Greenacres and the plan is to eventually have junior games there, it wouldn't suprise me if Norwood do the same.
Norwood would never ever move league games to Golden Grove, their oval and almost monopoly on Friday night games is one of the few things other clubs envy about them.

Yes I do. The club said at the time there was no plan to move league games there. They have been very open with their plans for Golden Grove, it was for juniors only. Feel free to keep talking about it if you want to,

Agreed SP, which really is a good reason why we need to get Tea Tree Gully out of the Amatuer leauge and into the SANFL Reserves as was the case with Woodville in 1959!
