Speaking of McConnell, he recently went around to a school in the Glenelg area which as a North Adelaide supporter's from this site daughter attending. He asked her why the North fans call him Eddie!!!!
Surely he's aware of the resemblance?

Bump.

Feel free to give us your appraisal of Macca's game today, grahaml. But first, please extract your boot from your gob.

definately missed out on 3 frees he should have got today & the one he did get in front of the stand the umpire seemed reluctant to pay it

i had a 'word' to the umps at halftime about the unfair treatment he is receiving & all gary fila could do was grin in a shyful way
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Anyone would think he was the only player, especially a FF, to miss out on a couple of frees. It's been happening since Jesus played full back for Jerusalem, can't see it changing in the next 2000 years either.

I'm watching that tape now and there's no way the free he got in front of the stand should have been paid.

Ive been pretty hot on Macca's diving for a long time. Really didnt enjoy seeing his legs collapse from under him.. arms flake above his head and his self propelled dive towards the ground week in week out... despite the fact he'd get the free and kick the goal. Glenelg supporters around me used to chuckle heartily about it. I knew that the "boy who cried wolf" syndrome would bite him fair on the arse eventually. Sure enough it has. Now I will say that he is getting nothing and I am equally annoyed. Players are grabbing, chopping arms and placing hands square in his back and he's getting nothing at all. There have been times when he's taken posession and been caught "holding it" with absolutely no prior opportunity and then moments later VERY similar cases are adjudged differently.

Im not sure what happens now. Umpires are obviously very wary of Justins past "acting" and staging for frees... as bayman has said they do not want to be seen to have been stooged on tellie.... but surely he deserves a clean slate every time he walks out? But then how do the umpires just forget being made look silly time and time again?

TM, I haven't watched the whole game yet and it seems as if McConnell had a fairly forgettable game (I'm afraid he won't tomorrow). As a neutral watcher, I saw one where he ducked his head and rightly wasn't paid a free and I've seen nothing else.

I have to say though that Umpire Fila had a shocker and I saw one other terrible decision. Player on the NE flank was running with the ball, tackled perfectly, he drops the ball cold ..................free kick, holding the man!

Oh dear.

Just a quick question for Bays fans...

Did I read the stats correctly in the Advertiser today ? Did Justin McConnell only have 1 handball and give away 1 free kick for the entire game ? Is that correct, is he that badly down on form ? I know sometimes the stats in the paper can be a long way off the official club stats, that's all.

I've noticed he has been reasonable quiet, for his standards, in recent weeks ? Is he possibly carrying an injury of some sort or is he just going through a form slump of sorts ? I certainly hope he doesn't find form this week against the Dogs, we need him to have another quiet game if we are going to get up, we saw how dangerous he can be the last time we played the Bays at Elizabeth, about a month ago.
