Round 13: Port Adelaide vs Richmond

Postby hearts on fire » Tue Jun 17, 2008 12:31 pm

Well.... what can i say? another week and yet another disappointing loss by the Power.

Richmond are a much improved side since the Power played them last, so it will be a tight game.

I can't go past the fact it's at home, so the Power SHOULD get over the line.

Port by 27 points.

If Port can't beat Richmond they should be shot...last years GF to plunge like they have is not good...

Port should win by about 20, but depends how mentally gawn they are

Port to win by 8 goals, young guns (Gray, Salopek, Lower & co) to lead the way.

I've got a gut feeling Richmond could pull this off in the second half.

Who is going to stop Richo? Can Port win if they can't stop Richo because this season he has been a marking machine. Port should win if they rely on their considerable skill, a decided advantage they have over the Tigers. It's all about workrate and execution this match.

If port want a better side then this had to happen. White should have been in. Thompson should have been in. Thomas should have been in ages ago.

I never thought Port would go this low, losing to Richmond at home, thats a disgrace.

Mark Williams has a real worry now, this season is definitely over now, he should start cleaning the team out.

Fev would've been one of a handful of people to pick Richmond.

I certainly gave them no show. In fact I would've given 6 goals in.

Surprised Choco didn't have a stroke at 3/4 time. Funny stuff.

Well No Mercy,I think the players. When the ball is moved quickly and with skill, something Williams emphasised over the summer would be our goal,we score quickly and play exciting football. When we dont move it quickly or execute the skills poorly we get beaten.

I think some of the players decision making has been poor and this is a reflection on the whole playing group. When good sides are playing well they dont have to stop and assess the options, they just pick the right one because they know someone will be there for them,in the right spot at the right time. How does this happen? Hard work.Hard running.Confidence in each other. There is no doubt Port have the cattle and the coach (Premiership coach, his team missing the finals 3 times in the 10 years he has been there, people who question him make me wonder, really make me wonder) so for mine it is the way the players are making decisions and executing their skills.

Once on the field that is up to the players to do.Coaches can run drills at training and I am sure all AFL clubs would say "we work harder than anyone",and they probably all work as hard as each other.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

What did you think of Chad Cornes' cheap shot on that bloke standing the mark in the last term?
