I guess what he's saying is how can player "look" as though anything offensive was said to him? Unless you read lips, you wouldn't have a clue what was said. Just because the player may not have reacted like some others have to a racial slur, doesn't mean nothing was said. The player may have decided to keep it to himself and them complain after the match. For some reason in the past, some players have seen a racial slur as an excuse to react in a physical manner. It is not.

Not a big fan of innocent until proven guilty Big Phil? :?

I'd like to see facts before ruining a blokes rep. There were many North supporters none to happy when an 'alleged' incident involving one of their former players was constantly brought up.

The thread title is a bit sensationalist as well.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

agreed, the title of this thread is presumptous.
Both clubs are pretty sensible, let's hope it can be resolved at the early stages.

Still waiting for Big Phil to name the Centrals player who racially abused Cook...

I would expect that if something as serious as a racial slur was said against a player he'd be pretty pissed off and probably bring it to the umps attention at that time. Regardless, let's not hang, draw and quarter anyone before they are found guilty of an offence.

If the player is found guilty, an apology should obviously be given and perhaps some counselling on the topic. It's simply not the right thing in this day and age.

A brief comment.

It's going to be handled with professionalism and I hope that it's not repeated again.

the club will deal with it in a professional manner, i believe the player should get a game suspension and then spend some time doing some community work with the aboriginal people.

Is that racial vilification? I would just think that's funny. I had a half chinese mate that played 19s and ressies for Glenelg and his nickname was China. At college we called him Chong Li after the chinese dude in Bloodsports with massive pecs.

In other words: no contradiction; to look as though something has happened is just that, it is a conditional statement without a definite conclusion. It is an attempt to devine a meaning without knowing exactly what happened "going by the North lad's reaction it looked as though nothing offensive was said", is fine, but to say "nothing happened because it looks like nothing happened" would be illogical.
Nice of you to attempt to interpret what he means exaclty AH, but Punky is either just stirring the pot again, or trying to use words he has no idea the meaning of.

No dice Big Phil. The individual who vilified Sudjai still runs around each week for you guys.

Not quite so keen on naming and shaming now? You were so keen when it was a Sturt player.

Can anyone else understand the staggering difference in BP's attitude to the same offence?

The only thing I can notice Topsy is the staggering issue you have with not being able to let go of the past and move on FFS...

I have no doubt that back when the incident took place involving Mr Cook, the "alledged" offender would have had people like me saying name and shame them...

To a slight degree, I agree with "innocent until proven guilty" but surely an accusation of such a serious matter is not something that Wade Thompson just made up as taking place so clearly there has been racial vilification forwarded to him by an unnamed Sturt player, so what more do we need to hear, other than the fact as to who it actually was...

Mate, if you are that set on reliving the past, start up a new post and see if you get anyone else to take your pathetic bait. I'm pretty confident the topic will lie stagnant for sometime. Again, do us a favour and drop off with your fixation on something that happened in the past...

Why the heck would a shy young kid like Thommo make something up if it wasn't true. I would think his very impressive debut game against the Eagles the week before would have given him a bit of media spotlight so surely the lad wouldn't make such a serious accusation to try and claim a bit more media attention. If there wasn't at least some truth to the accusation then north Adelaide and Wade wouldn't have lodged the complaint would they.

The only thing that COULD have taken place is a situation where Wade mis-interperated something that was said by the "alleged" offending Sturt player. I think there will still be plenty more to come of this and although it isn't necessarilty appropriate to name and shame the player involved, I think if there is any slight truth to the rumor at all, he and the club should be very ashamed of their actions.
