Interesting point actually about "staging" for free kicks.

I always wonder if its a good idea to penalise a player for obvious "staging" with a free kick to the opposition. Like in soccer where you get a yellow card for diving. This will reduce the number of times a player does it and allows umpires to call as they see it.

Yeah I have actually tigersupporter...

To his credit he has trimmed up as the season goes on, but surely you would have seen him before pre-season, he'd been eating a few pies by the looks of it. Wasn't he languishing in the 2's at the start of the year, maybe because of poor fitness, that like I say, has seen him improve to now be playing some pretty good footy in your league side...

Languishing....mmm, he played one game in the Ressies v South, and kicked a bag...

His fitness is not in question as he smashed his ankle up against the Eagles in the last minor round game last year, and did nothing but bust his ass to get his ankle right, and improve his fitness levels. He dropped a heap of weight pre-season and his form is showing for it...Go Dogger !!

when MacConnell goes for the hard ball he should be rewarded, at the moment he waits for the easy ball and crys wold when he doesnt get a free. I could go on about Brant not getting looked after but justice was served on the weekend when he finally got a couple of free kicks paid.

There was a big fattie playing for Norwood back when they first started wearing lycra, I think he was their full forward maybe? I remember reading that the guy was so fat that his skin changed colour during games because the lycra didn't allow the skin to breathe or something?
I can't remember his name right now but I think it sounded a little like "Renee"?

that norwood player i think was prime with a nick name of tractor, is that who your thinking off ?

As a bay man, i agree that he can hit the deck when he feels contact has been made too easily at times.

The thing is, he is probably one of the most quick thinking players in the SANFL at the moment.
He will still hurt the opposition on the scoreboard weather the umps look after him or not.
His goalkicking tally is proof of that.
He didnt have a great one on Monday, but still kicked a couple, which should really have been 4 or 5.

I would'nt say he's fat, but if he's not careful when he retires, we may well have another Chinese phonebook

Lay off fatal, stop being so precious, his posts are bloody funny!!

Back to the topic.

I think it's a very similiar scenario to the cricket sides that appeal for LBW every single time the ball hits the pads.
By staging all the time he automatically causes the umpire to doubt whether there is contact towards him unless the umpire has the perfect view (which we know they don't all the time).
So he probably misses out on 3-4 free kicks out of ten that he should have got. BUT in the same breath he probably gets given a couple of free kicks which he doesn't deserve.

As i haven't seen enough of him, do Glenelg supporters think that his stageing has caused him to miss out on contests that he probably still would have won possesion of the ball if he had kept his feet.

I've noticed Macca has started to do a Matty Lloyd and tuck his legs up so he always falls forward if the ball is spoiled. He's better off trying to grab the bloody thing properly. Not the hardest player going around, but he's certainly the best at sneaking goals from the pocket infront of Bay Hill!

COuld be Chris Prime...

He's still playing pretty good footy over on the Eyre Peninsula for Tumby Bay. Has been dominant for a few years now, kicking well in excess of 100+ goals. Reckon Timmy Weatherald went and played a game with Tumbu before signing up with Norwood...

Could also be Anthony Pierrie as mentioned on here earlier. Could say Stephen Rowe if he was still playing for the Redlegs !!??

Why not use a pic of say Greg Phillips or are Port legends untouchable? He looks to be a much bigger pie eater than Darren Jarman?

No, of course they aren't. The ironing is that I actually found that pic when doing a search for a phot of Jezz Clayton. I posted it on this thread as it seemed to be "on topic".

People on this site are far too precious about a whole bunch of shit that really doesn't matter.

It's not as though I called him Sandy Nelson by mistake...
