Can't remember the final score but I do remember Sturt won by exactly 6 goals if that helps.

eddie eagle, I wouldn't be too quick to criticise the "alcohol procurement people" at Unley. Speaking to some of the volunteers there today, the word is that Sturt had virtually their entire game day stock of alcohol stolen from their premises on Sunday night. If it wasnt for the work of some of the SFC staff first thing Monday morning, you wouldnt have had to worry about them selling out by half time, because there would have been none to sell in the first place.

Amazing performance by Sturt today. Most committed effort I've seen all year. I was waiting for them to take their foot off the pedal but they never did!

Great crowd (I saw plenty of red & white supporters) and no question there was over 4,000.

Umpiring was probably the poorest I've seen this year. Poor decisions given against both teams (more so against Sturt though).

Best players for mine were; Gum, Whiteman, Wicks, Feast, Coad, McLeay, McGlone, Bentley, Thompson (1st half), Sharples, Sheedy. Oh, and that guy who sits down forward and kicks a bag every week... I know it's a lengthy list, but you really could have given every player a mention (actually I think I nearly have  )...

And as for the North supporters, I don't think I've ever heard a crowd bag their own players and coach to the extent I heard today. Slightly understandable though given the crap their team dished up. The last quarter was not much more than a training drill.

Never mind the CEO serving hamburgers and sausages all day..

Was that you Eddie eagle?...standing at the bar for 5 mins trying to decide what he wanted and holding up all the other thirsty folk?

An abbreviated version:
<Geez! No bourbon! what the hell is this?!
And I can't drink scotch!! That's for pussies!
Can I grab an extra dry? (Guy already running down to the van to grab some cartons before he speaks...They're not cold..)
Jeez what is this sh1thole?!
Where's the bourbon? (We're all out sir)
What other sh1t have you got??? (Draught and light Sir, Give the Extra dry a few minutes to cool down)
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............Give me a couple of draught...>

THANK F 4 ThAT!

Needless to say I found it quite amusing that a bloke could be so fussy with such a big crowd, a huge line, and a lack of staff (yes, the CEO was on the BBQ). I don't know who the idiot was but you just had to laugh...No complaints from me.

Gawbless the work of our volunteers!

Agree with Clarrie re the training drill. We could have done with some stiffer* opposition in the last half.

What the hell has happened to North this year? I saw their ins and outs at the start of the year and thought they had improved their squad since 07 but they seem to have gone backwards at a rate of knots.

Is it a coaching thing?
What are the supporters feelings towards the coaching staff at the moment?
Is there a feeling Jarman has peaked as a coach or that he has lost the players?

Then I read stuff about White and Ivens struggling. Ivens 18 months ago was one of the toughest players in the league...probably my favourite non-Magpie. White was in the leadership group.

Why are North underachieving like this?

Dunno about North themselves, but what do people think about this being Jars last year?

I'm not saying it will be, I'm asking North supporters on their views.

I could be wrong, but White didn't look fit to me today. He was exhausted well before the end of the game. With his huffing and puffing late in the game he was contributing to northerly

North supporters in the know might have more info.

I'd like to know how we've improved our squad?
Dean Howard gone.
Ben Hart gone.

One of those guys is a Crows legend, the other was known as one of the toughest mid-fielders in the competition.

How can we replace a guy like Ben Hart?
The Crows will struggle to find another one like him.

The buck stops with the coach, as he's had 4 years now to build his squad to his liking- I shudder to think what he'll hand over when he leaves...
Too many blokes on the wrong side of 28.
We do have some good kids/juniors/rookies coming through (Wright, Delvins, Dodman, Thompson, Motlop, Pfeoffer, Cunningham etc)
Our recruiting has been hit & miss-
Hits: Heuskes, Howard, Campbell, Roe, Hart, Allan & Gill
Misses: Koops, Weatherley, Toia, Burford & (possibly) Walker
Juries out on: Stewart, O'Brien, Ward, Archard & Clarke
to name a few.
We've let go quality forwards, without adequately replacing them (Hargraves & Perrie)
We have not had a quality ruckman since Mick Redden.

All these add up to North have an ageing & mediocre squad at the present.

Agreed on both counts, I hate to think of what the score might have been if the umpires didn't look after us! (serious comment!)
How the hell the umpires can justify giving us 25 of the 39 free kicks for the day and 7 of our 10 goals from free kicks (more dodgy than not) is beyond me.

Howard gone.

Archard, Clarke and Ward in.

On paper, those three ins were massive massive inclusions to an already pretty bloody good midfield.

Yep - Sturt just played a much more accountable, tougher, faster brand of Football from the opening bounce.

The most disappointing thing North never worked anywhere near hard enough to even make it look like any sort of contest. At times we looked slow, lazy, soft and disinterested although you have to credit that to the fact Sturt made us look that way even if it wans't deliberate on our part.

I think i'm safe this week as they would have plenty to print off after yesterday! Apparently the virtual runner link on the nafc website had a melt down as did the CEO's phone in calling back quite a few who let their thoughts be known and to hose down some of the "rumours" coming out of Prospect!
