Re: 2008 Hills Country
Any results from the Hills Country Side Vs K.I.? Can understand plenty of last minute phone calls to get players when Kersbrook's Paul James, Brad Pearce and Brad Lees are in the Hills Central Side. And with Dylan Bingos, Nathan Pearce, Lee Hughes, Rob Nicholson and possably other Brookers (Maybe Kym Pearce!) lining up for the Hills Country Side, it is ludicrous that one Country Division Club can have so many Reps playing this weekend. Wonder what the TV and Kangy Boys are doing this weekend?
Slattery, Jaques, T.Thorpe and the Wakefields would walk into the Hills Association Sides.

Re: 2008 Hills Country
I'm not familiar with the Hills Country players but going by the names quoted in the budget I thought Ty Habner was impressive up forward. He tooks some great contested marks. Karl Goody killed em through the middle and across half forward and Bradley Dawe took some nice grabs around the ground but was giving away a few kilos to the KI ruckman and struggled at the ball ups. KI was hard at the ball and tried hard but their disposal was disgraceful and Hills Country made them pay every time the ball was turned over with pace and numbers steaming through the middle with players like Bingos giving the strong marking forwards plenty of opportunities.
Hills Country looked to be a more professional and well drilled unit.

Re: 2008 Hills Country
Congratulations to all those Hills Country Blokes that represented their comp. Sounds like an easy win for the Lads. Any truth that 'Mish' Bingos was named Captain?
He would have been inspirational after the game with a Win like that
Sounds like Brad Lees did play 2 games on the weekend, representing Both Hills Sides. I know Kersbrook again made over a quater of the side and even young Parasiers, who played Magoos the other week, played on Sunday. No reps from TV or Kangy is a joke, either scrap the concept or punish those 2 Clubs.

heard a whisper the suspention option for not playing rep footy will be implemented next year
TV did have 1 rep Hotrod Smitheran good on him

WHy don't they play seaess? could it be that they have families? could it be that they might want a week or two away from football. I dont see a problem, let the boys play who want too, and let the boys who dont want to have a week off.
Kangy boys who would have played - Thorpe, B. Wakefield, Radis, Smelt, All played Rep footy, SANFL footy, what do they have to prove?

The TV boy's are encouraged not to play $$
It's in the HFL constitution that players be available for interleague so you would think maybe 1 player from each club could put up their hand
You've given an excuse for 4 of the Kangy boy's what about the other 17+ who are A Graders at Kangy

B.James, P.James, B.Pearce, S.Carslake and R.James have nothing to prove either. Poor effort by Kangarilla. For a club that was so keen to join Hills League, perhaps they need to be sent back if they're not willing to co-operate at Inter Association Level.

Apparently Jaimen Stringer did put his hand up to play but he got injured in the last game against Maccy a couple of weeks ago. I guess the tester of that though will be if he plays this week.
Was impressed with the young brigade against K.I. like Clint Guy, Brock Rothe, Karl Goody, Nathan Hart and Brady Dawe.
Good on Smitherean for playing as his voice and leadership was excellent and Kersbrook will be in good hands with the likes of Bingos as an on field leader once some of their older stars retire.

Re: 2008 Hills Country
Smitheran deserves a gold medal for playing which is more than I can say for some of his TV team mates. How about a new eligibility clause for winning the mail medal. "You have to have made yourself available for association matches".
Don't give me that Kangy crap about families etc. The HFL this year gave every club a week off in July to allow for anyone chosen in these games and with Blackwood pulling out of Div 2 all clubs have another week off. I wonder if Kangy had a game on last weekend if those family men still wouldn't play?
If the HFL is good enough to play in then it is good enough to represent!

Re: 2008 Hills Country
I can't believe there is so much carry on about association games......there is no way people should be forced to play if they don't want to.......they sign up to play for their club and if they don't want to play for their club on a particular week their club can't force them to so why is association any different?
And also why would you want people out their who don't want to play anyway.......again you wouldn't do it in a club game.......
The AFL can't even get State of Origin up and going so how can you expect association football to work any better?
Leave it to those who want play......who wants to watch a game of football with players who are not committed!
End of rant

Well said Confucius! I don't know what the issue is either. This mentality of "ve haf vays of making you play" is a total infringement of personal rights.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

Re: 2008 Hills Country
I have no problem if these games are cancelled but at the start of the year clubs voted, including TV and Kangy, that association games should be retained. How can they be retained if no-one wants to play?????
How many guys in the AFL declare themselves not available because they want to go away for the weekend or want to have a family picnic??
In addition if you play in this league you play under the conditions of the HFL consitution, as you do in any other league and so if you don't like it, go and play somewhere else!!

Re: 2008 Hills Country
the kangy boys who did get picked stringer b wakefield smelt and pannach, there is excuses 4 them, stringer sprained ankle, wakefield can hardly walk after a game atm with bad groins, smelt well who would want him anyway and pannach is a cop and was his rostered week off 4 football anyway, so quit ur whinging! The league shouldnt select it the A grade coach should and then at leat 1 player should be selected from each team and if none are made avaliable then the club should get fined. Dont blame the club blame the league 4 a stupid system.

There was 4 blokes from Kersbrook selected initially as well.....But 8 played on the weekend! If it's true that Kangy and other clubs voted at the start of the year for Association Football, and a weekend off mid season, then it is Poor form by them and others. Whatever way you look at it (that's for or against) and if they go ahead with it next season, I reckon the suspensions will come out like the Barossa, Galwer and Light do. It's the only way Barossa made themselves competitive against Hills. And if the Clubs/Players don't want this, then Vote No to Association Footy at the start of the season.
