SANFL or SAFL?

Does that really matter though? If the AFL want to sponsor a raft of new jobs within the SANFL (to develop our game in our state with their money - something we have been longing for) in exchange for changing the name of the admin to AFLSA then is it really a bad thing?

As Grimmett said earlier, it has already happened in Victoria for the better - and the VFL has been retained as the name of the comp, no reason why the same won't happen here.

Yes smac, that would be an acceptable solution - the administration can call itself whatever it likes so long as the competition is still the SANFL.

As I said folks the 'deal is already done'

I understand that when kiddy fiddlers do it to their victims it's called 'grooming'

1st = Change name

2nd = Update clubs images ie names/logos etc

3rd = Disband U17 & U19 replace with U18.

4th = Give the two afl coaches 'power of intervention' (ie let them mandate to the clubs when/where and how long their boys play).

5th = ????? Perhaps 'take over' two of our clubs as afl second teams? Perhaps mid season mini drafts out of the aflsa into the afl? Perhaps dictate the sechedulle to suit afl interests etc etc

I know I'm paranoid but I think with good reason. We are not the mini afl. Our identity and culture is what makes the league so important.

2nd rant over.

Hmmm, probably not the best way to start a post Peterxtc but I can see where you're coming from.
I got the survey also and found it ambiguous in it's questions but totally rejected any change in naming of the SANFL.
M. Rucci wrote an article last week about this, I've thrown the edition out but have been trying to find it on Adalaide Now to put up a link as it was very interesting, but guess what, today being the 7th, the SANFL page was last updated on the 3rd..WHAT A BLOODY LIBERTY!!!
This website is a joke! And not a very funny one.

I know I said I voted for SAFL as a possible name change but I've just found a potential problem with that...

http://www.safl.com.au/

Assuming that would be the name...it's already taken...would Sydney be happy to change theirs???

All to true in the case of the AFL, yet if they think that the supporters are going to sit back whilst they white-ant the SANFL competition I have a feeling that they might be in for a surprise! The passion that is shown here for peoples SANFL clubs rivals any sporting code in the world, I have a feeling that if the AFL go press those buttons they might find that the dog bites! :twisted:

Their is some issues above that no true SANFL supporter should stand for . I think it is about time we stood up for our competition. If we allow this to happen we should hang our heads in shame. We have a strong comp that obviously the AFL are not happy about. Those DICTATORS want everything under their banner. Well P.. O . Lets be true to our comp, its not money issues here ,we already receive substantially less than other leagues yet still remain the STRONGEST state league by far.

Dont accept it people, stand up & be counted. If this is not passed through the members of each club I will be very very angry. Count on this , if it starts to look like this will happen , you will hear a lot more from me . I will become very vocal and will call on all of you to support our league.
