Do you know the reason for this, Wedgie? I thought North didn't like Sunday games?

North supporters dont, the club is a different matter.
The reason given for the North v Port game is because the Power are playing on the Saturday so the club thought they'd look after those Magpie fans that also follow the Power whilst not giving a rats about the North supporter who follow the Crows as its now in direct competition with a live Crows fee.
The North v Glenelg game is even more bizarre as its the one Saturday afternoon where we had a game programmed at Prospect with absolutely no AFL game against it either at Aami or on TV, the afternoon is completely devoid of AFL footy as its a split round with the only game is that night in Sydney. To move it is beyond belief, just another great decision by a club which is going backwards at a rapid rate of knots.

As I said on the Roost "Who is the moron making these decisions?
They either have no idea or are on a mission to get rid of as many members as possible."

We imploded off the field a while ago and are probably in the process of doing the same on the field too.

Stuffs up the plans of a group of long range supporters, who have allready booked flights and accomodation.

Oh well, i'm sure there's a good reason.

The SANFL/NAFC would want to have an exceptionally good reason for the changes, with heavy emphasis on the match that's less than a month away.

Highlight in point the couple of posts above. They will drive people away with antics like this, and that's the complete opposite of what they should be doing.

2 of the things I dislike the most are to blame, Glenelg supporters and the Power, because Glenelg supporters like Sunday games and traditionally only about 3 of them travel to Prospect on Saturdays is probably the main thinking behind the Glenelg game. The thinking behind the Port changes is because of the bandwagon Port supporters that only go when the Power aren't playing. Of course officially, they put it much nicer:

from nafc.com.au

Home Match - Game Changes
Whilst we have adhered to Saturday afternoon scheduling this year to date, the attendances at Prospect Oval dictate that we show more flexibility in terms of programming. To that end we have applied and been granted the right to transfer two games from Saturday to Sunday later this year

Round 14 North V Glenelg at Prospect
Now : Sunday 6 July

The reason for this change is simply an attempt to generate an increased attendance against a side which is not only going well but is accustomed to Sunday / Monday scheduling. On that week

end the Crows play on Friday night and Power do not play all [ AFL split round]

Round 21 North V Port @ Prospect
Now : Sunday 24 August

Reason is quite simple - Power is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at AAMI

The Club still has a marked preference for Saturday afternoon scheduling of SANFL games, but must face reality in terms of attracting crowds. This is not a wholesale shift to Sundays, but a strategic shift to target specific Clubs whose supporters will travel to away games and to accommodate AFL programming.

Its good for me, but I feel for a bunch of Glenelg supporters who had booked and paid for flights from Victoria to come over and watch one of their former teammates. I'm tipping the NAFC are at least $500 down in beer sales as a result of this decision. And my attendance will not affect that amount of lost sales.

Barrie's too good a bloke to blame, I blame Jars....

Ironic isn't it the game is moved because Glenelg fans don't like Saturday games but less Glenelgs are likely to rock up to the Sunday game now....

Glenelg fans rock up to good games, look at last years game on a Saturday v Sturt...

So to summarise things...

North are admitting that all their own supporters have fallen off their bandwagon, so they are making poorly planned, last minute decisions to fill Prospect Oval with opposition supporters instead? :?
