Hey Footy Fans,

Here is the Doggies line up that has been selected to face a Clay Sampson coached South Adelaide side on Saturday out at Elizabeth...

CENTRAL DISTRICT FOOTBALL CLUB LEAGUE SIDE

SATURDAY 7th JUNE 2008 Vs SOUTH ADELAIDE @ HAMRA HOMES OVAL

Full Forward: Ryan Williams, Daniel Havelberg, Scott Dutschke
Half Forwards: Chad O'Sullivan, Heath Lawry, Trent Goodrem
Centre Line: Paul Thomas, James Gowans, Leigh Westhoff
Half Backs: Adam Switala, Daniel Schell, Cameron Faulkner
Full Backs: Andrew Hayes, Yves Sibenaler, Richard Cochrane

Rucks: Jonathon Giles, Luke McCabe, Matthew Slade

Interchange: Jason Mackenzie, Elijah Ware & Brayden O'Hara

No changes (unless any late withdrawals of course) from the side that pumped Port Adelaide magpies before the State game bye with Luke Cowan to have another run in the 2's

Does anyone out there have the first Panthers side that coach Clay has selected yet ? Will he swing the axe or keep the side settled ?

GO U DOGGIES...

Does it matter what their side looks like Big Phil?
South could start today & you'll still beat them by 20 on sat.

Baxter has been named in the squad. Also coming in from memory were Bachmann, Crabb, Hunter, Rediogolo. Out goes Sandery, King and Baird (injured)

Looks as though Marcus Burdett has gone back to play in the GSFL  Showed a bit in his few games.

Like I mentioned earlier, it's interesting to see that Luke Cowan is having another run in the reserves...

I hope he puts in another strong performance and has his kicking boots on. I just think if he find the form we all know he is capable of, he would have to find a spot back in the league side. The only worry I have is that with wintry conditions fast approaching, will it become too risky to play 3 tall forwards meaning Sponge is left lamenting in the magoos ??? With the recent departure of a few players due to lack league opportunity, I wouldn't want to see Luke fall back into this category and end up heading home to Numerka, country Victoria ???

Obviously Dan Havelberg is in pretty good form at full forward and Heath Lawry has at least been serviceable from CHF. I think when conditions are dry we can certainly afford to play a 3rd tall and expose the oppositions defenders but if it's wet we are going to need crumbers like Nutta in the side, not tall, one dimensional forwards. I've always thought that Sponge should be tried as a pinch hitting ruckman as he seems to be fit enough to play around the ground. But, as it hasn't really been tried and tested, it would be too risky to do so, meaning I think the number 26 might be playing in the 11.15am game for a few more weeks to come.

I just think that with the league side not having it's strongest ruck brigade in a few years, maybe Sponge could be used in that role. Jon Giles, in my opinion hasn't done enough in recent weeks and still needs to do more around the ground. In saying this, I think if Earl Shaw has another good game in the 2's and Joffa struggles again, the former Swan might be playing league again and the Power listed big man will be in the 2's. Or maybe we try Sponge as a back up ruckman as well as a replacement forward if our opposition sides have a few good forwards, meaning Roy has to send Dan Havelberg down into defence.

Anyway, onto this weeks game, good to see we have had a settled line up for a few weeks, I'm glad Brayden O'Hara has another week, at least, to prove he is good enough at League level. I think, like I said previously, we shouldn't underestimate South after the controversy they've had in recent weeks, months, years, decades... I think they will run with us for the first half before we run away with a comprehensive, comfortable 10 - 15 goal win. Hopefully the possible showers stay away so that the weather doesn't halt good conditions for clean, productive footy...

Hey Footy Fans,

It's good to see Centrals League side remian settled with no changes. For anyone that might be interested, here's the Dog's reserves side chosen to play the early game @ 11.15am :

RESERVES SQUAD:
Aufderheide, Baldwin, Barmby, Cole, Cowan, Duncan, Foldesdy, Hadden, Hudson, Kelly, McGee, McGrath, McShane, Moss, Porter, Sharpe, Shaw, Woods, Spurr, Whiley, White, Woods

Interesting to see a couple changes from the 2nd's side that defeated Port Adelaide Magpies down at Alberton about a fortnight ago. From what I can gather, the changes are as follows:

INS: Cole, Hadden, Moss
OUTS: Musolino (retired), Edwards (ommitted), Brading (knee)

Obviously most of us are aware that Chris Musolino has joined Alex Stengle in leaving the club due to lack of League opportunities, to head back out to his original club in Virginia. I think that it is a shame to see qulity players leave the club but like mentioned before, if their hearts and head are not 100% committed to the club, they are better off running around in local leagues instead. Looks like Charlie Edwards was sent back to the Under 19's and Jarryd Cole comes in after a supposedly impressive performance in the Barossa League last weekend.for an injured Sean Brading who has a knee complaint and will await results of a scan. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Interestingly, on the topic of players leaving our club to find better opportunities elsewhere, I also noticed in the South Adelaide reserves side, 2 former Centrals players named to line up for the Panthers magoos side. Of course, we are aware of Chad Norsworthy who transferred to Noarlunga a few seasons back, but former Golden Grove junior, Mark Obushack is in the match 21. I reckon I heard a whisper that the only reason Mark left the Dogs to play for South was that he moved down South for work and figured it too far to drive to Elizabeth for training 3 nights a week, especially with the price of fuel these days and the fact ressies players are lucky to get $100 a game.

Great to see 2 young qulity players back in the magoos line up with Louis Hadden and James Moss named to play tomorrow morning. Interesting to see that Power rookie Daniel Boyle is not named yet again for about the 3rd week. Curious as to why he has missed a few games, I checked Port Adelaide Power's offically injury list on line and interestingly, it said he's got a hamstring injury sustained while playing SANFL in Round 8. It must have been the week before in Round 7 againsts The Eagles at Woodville as I looked back over my West game review and thought that he did not play in that game against the Bloods. Thankfully, it says he is only 1 more week away, meaning with the bye next week, he'll be cherry ripe agianst the Tigers the week after. Looking forward to see his awesome runs from half back, taking on EVERY single opponent on the ground, sometimes getting pinged for HTB !!??

Hopefully our reserves boys can kickstart a good day with 2 comprehensive wins the final result...
