Have the state jumpers changed colours or was it my imagination ?

The Blue seems to be Navy, not the more Royal colour as shown on the pic on the banner...

Why ? Now it looks like they've taken on the Crows colours and not the state's colours...

 Well, it might be just as easy to wear the CROWS jumper then !

Well done on the pumping too S.A !

And well done Alleway too, wish he would play like that every week for the Cocks !

Just pretend that you are playing against your old state every week :)

Since the Crows came in, people now think navy blue is one of the state's colours.

That's the reason why the Crows went for the Navy, as to have a degree of separation from the state's colours...

Hopefully the next game, we revert back to the more Royal Blue colour...

I watched the end of the game yesterday and thought I heard Pete Doneghan say that SA could quite rightly say that they are second behind the VFL. If he did say VFL I would think he meant AFL.

I respect Pete, but can someone confirm that I heard this incorrectly - my 1 year old daughter was seeking my attention during the actual comment.

Can someone confirm the Doneghan comment?

I don't think they should've worn the SA guernsey. Realistically it's an SANFL composite team not SA.

Well done to the players yesterday. They did the SANFL proud. It was an entertaining display and goes to show the quality of players we have - in particular from the recruits, many of which have been in SA for a fairly long time now. I couldn't split Perrie and Thomas as the best players for SA. It was a case of all played well though and glad to see no injuries to any Eagles players!

You can't be serious, lets not let any side representing SA in any sport wear the state colours then, most would have at least 1 players player playing that wasn't born here, FFS you have NFI.

Not to mention that the guernsey has been worn by more "SANFL" teams than "SA State of Origin" teams over the years, since SoO didn't come in until the '80s.

Yep your correct if we dont use the red jumper then the Vics can not use the blue and white jumper.Because Blight and Co played for SA then VIC and SA.
Hell can the VFL use the jumper as they were the VFA.

I think it was appropriate fpr both sides to wear those jumpers. They were representing the SANFL and the VFL, and they are the jumpers state teams from both those competitions wear.

What I don't understand is why Victorian State of Origin teams wear the VFL jumper. None of those players are representing the VFL, they are representing AFL players who played their first game in Victoria.

Yeh, just my opinion. I'd like the State guernsey to only be worn during State of Origin, but I know it's unlikely nowadays and yes I understand the heritage of pre-SOO.

I think exactly the same of the Big V. Having Kenna and Alleway I think it was, play for both states in alternate years just cheapens the meaning of representing SA IMO.

I'm all for the SANFL rep team playing the VFL rep team, just not in the state guernsey.

BTW Ian, when you say I have no idea, what does "most would have at least 1 players player playing that wasn't born here" mean exactly?

And it's got nothing to do with the state colours that's the concern, it's the state guernsey that I don't want them to wear.

It was worn by a lot of state sides well before SOR was ever dreamed up, why should that change now, it is the SANFL's representitive guernsey, all ways has been, it doesn't belong to the state government or the AFL, it belongs to the SANFL. Even the Amatuers guernsey is different, the blue & yellow on the V are reversed to the SANFL one.
