Bloody Sturt !!! ###$$$###

Postby LPH » Thu May 29, 2008 1:24 pm

Who is the 'brain surgeon' that came up with having a kids 'Lightning Carnival' @ Unley Oval this Saturday??? :vom: :axe:

Do the clubs in the SANFL actually communicate/liase with the SANFL ????

The state game starts @ 1:40pm no doubt due to the ABCTV coverage back in Victoria.
The Lightning Carnival supposedly ends @ 12:30pm (will believe it when I see it).

PARKING @ Adelaide Oval is NOTORIOUSLY difficult.

How many will stay away?

Does anyone know if the other 8 clubs are doing something similar???

Not Happy

Glenelg's is much later in the year.

But I say that any thread that bags Sturt (no matter how petty and nonsensical) is a good thread.

Boo Sturt!

Boo all the volunteers and/or parents that donate hundreds of hours of their valuable time to coordinate junior footy!

Boo the Sturt FC for picking a weekend with no matches (senior or under age groups) and letting the juniors use Unley Oval!

Boo Sturt even having a very successful junior programme, with very large numbers of teams AND umpires!

I blame Brant.

Oh, and Timmy and Perrie as well.

Think about the children for goodness sake!

Err... I think I DO THAT every f***ing week by COACHING a side in the competition, pal!

All I am saying is that it could've been done on Sunday or on a BYE Week End NOT the bloody State Game.
I would hazzard a guess that a number of these families will NOT attend Adelaide Oval on Saturday as a result of this carnival.

Why wouldnt these families attend ???

Its a 15 minute drive with an hour and 10 minutes between the finish of the carnival and the start of the State game - according to your time scheduling !!!

Even if the carnival goes half an hour over you still have 40 minutes ( that would leave still at least 25 minute to get a park and get in to the ground ) - thats leaving the carnival to finish half an hour late !!!
It is what it is !!!

Shocking news this.
Time to cancel the state game IMO.
Or perhaps we could have police at every traffic intersection and a personal escort so LEH can make the 15 minute trip from Unley to AO in an hour and 10 minutes? Funding could come from a charity to the "Get LEH to the state game in less than 70 minutes fund".
It's going to be a challenge, but if we all toil together, I am sure we can get him there!

Being a Sturt supporter there BB, I would have thought you might know...

1. Parking around Unley Oval is appauling at the best of times, let alone with 1000's of people trying to get away @ one time.
2. Parking @ Adelaide Oval is just as bad.
3. Going through the city (Goodwood Rd. is out because of road works)
4. By the time parents get their kids 'sorted', park the car, buy tickets, then try to find seats...

Mate, they just ain't gunna bother

Clearly, you lot will defend your club no matter the topic...

Did they not have a bye last week?
Could they not have had the carnival LAST week?

You can take the piss as much as you like but it doesn't change the FACT that they fu**ed up, simple

Mate, if you use Goodwood Road to go from Unley to Adelaide Oval the main issue here is getting you a road map, not what time the lightning carnival finishes!

OK here is what you do...

Get to Adelaide Oval real early...
Park the car...
Catch a bus up Unley Rd...get off, go to footy

Vice versa for way back...

Car is there for trip home, save petrol money and help the environment all in one go !

LEH, some research before posting would help. Sturt did run a lightning carnival at Unley Oval last Saturday on their bye weekend, just as they do each time Sturt has a bye. I believe there will be 4 held this year, 3 on the weekend of Sturt's byes and this weekend when everyone has the bye.

However, if you want to deprive 15 school teams of the opportunity to play at Unley Oval this Saturday because it doesnt suit you, then i guess your complaint is fair enough.
