South have actually got better at this over the years - they didn't give Don Scott 8 games.

just find it very ironic Rushby, that you're quick to mock South, when your own football club has a history not too disimilar....

This is hardly surprising - both the alleged actions of South's board (Dave Flannigan - FFS, sometimes funny, rarely intelligent) and the reaction of Jack. He's got form, tolerance would be far lower than when he was younger and the fact he isn't at Port would reduce his tolerance even further.

You may well ask questions of Rushby, but as I said previously he probably has more idea of what goes on at South than most South supporters given his work in the Southern footy zone. Whilst tehre may be irony there there is also a health degree of insider knowledge.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Way off topic, but yes the Bays were absolutely poo 4 years ago.

But now they are not.

And it all starts from the board, and filters down from there. A strong, unified board made up of successful professional business people, with the right contacts, will get you much further then a board made up of passionate but not business minded ex football players.

Among the differences between the Bays 4 years ago and South now is that at least Bays had a solid supporter base, even if they weren't going to the games back then. Along with success, so back have come the crowds. (The same as North).

I can't see that happening to South.

And not that anyone has asked me, if I was on the board at South the first thing I would do would be to remove the cars.

If they want to be a successfull footy club with a positive image, why present the players with a country footy atmosphere.

Anyway, enough about the Bays and my thoughts, back to the bagging of South.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Great to have you back Reakon-Man...it's been far too long. Shame we reunite under these circumstances.

I feel for South supporters...but FFS, what a rabble the club is, and 10,000 boos for Jack Cahill for deciding it was all too hard and pulling the pin. No doubt he is a frontrunner coach who feels that a full season at South, where they will be bottom 2-3, will ruin his prior coaching record with Port. Somone ought to tell Jack that footy is different these days...you don't just rock up with a reputation and things instantly change.

The move to appoint Jack always irked me...

At the time the coaching job was up...I thought of no one but Darren Trevena would be the right man for this job...now he's entrenched at the Power and unlikely to leave there.

Hopefully Jack will tell the real story, I have heard that the Players were happy with him but continual interference from Ben Kavanagh and the so called Fab Four from the board thats supposed to run the football department.

Absolutely pis... off - i dont know the inside story but my instincts are to blame board etc interference.

In any case, no matter how well Jack coached, the fact is that the club did not recruit much at all and to solely rely on the juniors and local players was a recipe for disaster and consignment to the bottom of the ladder for years.
With the player list and even worse the lack of depth in it that he was given, Jack was up against the wall from the very start.

IMO if he had the team in 2006, his coaching style would have won us a premiership.

Your kidding me aren't you? South would have one of the strongest local areas around. It has been the so called "gun" recruits that swan in for a season get paid big money then f**k off to other clubs that are destroying the club. Damian Cupido Exhibit A. IMO opinion the club has too many players that are just there to play at a league club, a loss and pathetic season, doesn't hurt them anywhere near as much as it hurts a die hard supporter.

You might want to get the facts on why Cupido left South before throwing his name up in your so-called rationale of why South is in this position.

My point was more to the fact why was he there? No newly recruited SANFL player is worth that much.

And that my friend would appear to be the insurmountable problem at South!

I have lost count of the number of takeovers and new boards that have happened at South. Calling a special meeting and changing it all again will achive absolutley firetruck all.

Michael Taylor is supposed to be the assistant coach at South, so he should be coaching the side in Jacks absence.

Gee thats interesting South have the FAB-4 while Jack was coaching & Port had the FAB-7 & Jack was one of them while Knights was coaching.
The wheel does a full circle doesn't it, now he knows what it feels like.
I give Knights credit, atleast he finished off the year.

I agree with your sentiments to an extent, however, having a strong local area by itself is not sufficient to win a premiership - it also needs topping up with the right recruits.
