well, i listened to this game and it was up and down, sounded as north got off to a good start then the eags got the upperhand but no team could break away and seal it until the middle of the last when younie and first gamer wade thompson kicked a few goals and started to get on top of their opponents.

north would be feeling pretty rejuvenated after this win and just shows that its a close, tight season.

eags didnt blow it, just north better able to handle the pressure. passa with 8 in a losing team not a bad effort.

i really thought the eags would win after the way they brushed the blues aside.

Defining moment of the game for me was the moving McIntyre up front and putting Ward on Passador.

Passador only kicked one after that and McIntyre gave us someone up front to kick to.

Such a simple move, such an effect on the game

He'd be pretty happy with the final result, as would a few frustrated Roosters fans...

I've watched the game on ABC all day and thought the Eagles looked the better team for most of the day up until that last quarter when North kicked 8 goals to 4. Jimmy Allan and Rhys Archard had plenty of it while Heath Younie was pretty good with 5 majors while their 2 debutants where super impressive with Wade Thompson and Marlon Motlop. Both looked pretty good and showed some amazing turns of pace at times...

McGregor was good in the 1st 3 quarters but faded out while Passador was great for the Eags once again kicking 8 goals as well as Fitzgerald at his crumbing best with 4 or 5. Eagles fans will be dissapointed with the final result and have to work on playing 4 solid quarters. Just watching the North boys sing the club song now and they are quite a happy mob of Roosters. Was a real good game of footy to watch and Jars, speaking with Soders reflected on the club in the last few years saying, despite making the GF last year, thinks the club hasn't been at it's best since 2006. Said he was happy with the versatility shown by some of his bigger lads and felt pretty good about the 6 changes he made after the loss to Norwood last week to come up with a 20 point win.

No one except these players and Fiacchi deserves a mention of any kind because everyone else seemed to go missing when it counted. Passador and Fitzgerald couldn't do much when the ball wasn't getting in there.

Just like we have the wood over Sturt, North have the wood over us for some reason. The next two matches are must wins or our finals streak will end. Just a question, did anyone else think Younie's mark at the end of the third was after the siren?

No - right on it. Just like the last 1/4 soccer off the goal line!

Very disappointing game. Defining moment was just before 3 quarter time when the Eagles got awarded a free kick 35m straight in front of goal and I think Rimington then gave away a stupid free kick to reverse it. North immediately got the ball down the other end and took a mark just on the siren which they got a goal out of and the margin was 2 goals at 3 quarter time instead of 4. The Eagles then laid down in the last and North wanted it more. Poor effort from the Eagles and Fuller should be livid.

I couldn't understand why Fuller pushed Passador out to half forward in the 3rd after he'd kicked 7 at Full Forward. It was not that Ward got on top as one poster above mentioned, it was just a plain stupid coaching move. Passador then got shifted back to Full Forward with 10 minutes to go and immediately got a goal.

The move of McIntyre and Alleway forward worked for Jarman. Fuller had McGregor and Hentschel up his sleeve and kept them in the back lines.

Best player for the Eagles was easily Passador. McGregor was good in the first half. Stewart was gutsy and tried hard all game. Fitzgerald was dangerous up forward. Fiacchi was also good across half back. Our midfield and the rest of the forwards weren't good enough today.

Allan was sensational for North. Archard got on his own in the last quarter. Alleway performed solidly all game and made a difference when up forward. Wade Thompson was sensationl and thrashed Petrenko, who must have had about 5 goals kicked on him from various players today. Marlon Motlop is also an excitement machine and is built well for AFL level.

The Eagles had the wood on North for a long time, but it's fair to say they now have the wood on us. They've won the last 4 and 3 of the last 4 they've come back from a fair way behind to win, including 2 finals.

Not sure where to from here for the Eagles, but it is a long way back from being 3 and 5. The balanced side we had before the bye all of a sudden looks all over the place and while I reckon we have all the pieces to the jigsaw, we're a long way from putting them together.

Wouldn't have mattered either way anyway, before or after the siren. That reverse free kick is what started it all.

Yeah, but I though that was part of the reason why we ran out of steam in the finals - had to put everything in to it to get there. But yes, there is still a long way to go and I think we have a better squad this year, albeit with some reliance on AFL players being available.

Also, I'm definitely not one for excuses, but I'm still pissed off how Broadbent and Daveron can be taken out of the side just to play scratch matches. Two players gaining valuable experience playing in the best comp out of the AFL, are now playing meaningless trials. That probably contributes to those potentially unbalancing changes.

Agree. Both those players also have a lot of discipline and accountability - something that was lacking big time today. Unfortunately the reserves are playing like ratshit so those players who were out there today are going to have to do the job next game as well.

Were you sitting just past the green fence on the outer side, underneath the sponsors signs on the hill? And Colville is definitely not past it, some of the stuff he did was what you'd expect from him - composed, well thought pieces of plays.

I thought that the reason Passadore stopped kicking goals was because supply dried up.

In the last quarter North dominated the centre and midfield and continually went into attack.

How did Trent Hentschel play???

Played in the backlines all day, mainly on his fellow Crows teammate, Nick Gill, from memory ??

Didn't do anything spectacular but was really efficient with taking the point kick outs. Although Pass was in great touch up forward, though Ronnie Fuller would have tried something with Trent up forward, especially late when the game slipped away.

Still a long way off making it ack to AFL, especially with the Crows playing so well and Tippett doing alright for them up forward. Playing as a defender today, I can't see him making his way into the Crows defence either. I think he will get better with each game that he plays for the Eagles but think he might just struggle to get back into the Crows side this year. But anything can happen with form and injuries although Ken McGregor would get back into the AFL before Trent based on todays performance.
