Might be playing for the Maggies this week and possibly one week away from playing for the Power.
The Power's win/loss ratio with him in the side is extraordinary to say the least.
Can an unspectacular player be so insperational for a team and how exactly does he do this?
Im not being a smart arse, I remember reading Josh Francou's article once saying how the whole team grows a leg* when Wilbur's out there.
I can understand how players like Carey, Hird, Voss, etc can have such a big influence on a team but I think Ports ratio with/without Wilson is even more pronounced than some of the greats of the game in their respective club.
Not watching the Power much as other the years Im genuinely interested in how Wilbur inspires the team so much and hence the win/loss ratio when he's playing?

Wilbur is one of those players who sets a bench mark for the rest of the team in the way he attacks each and every contest.No one,and I mean no one in recent memory of the Port Adelaide Fc in either AFL or SANFL jumper has led the way with endeavour and courage.

It has been his down fall,a couple of knees,a couple of shoulders,a couple of hammys (all major re-cons or off the bone) and now a snapped achilles are testament to the way he pushes his body to its limits,and in doing so shows courage and effort like no other.

His skills at times are brought into question,but those who have seen alot of him know he rarely misses targets and is soild for a bloke his size over head.i would think he would be widely regarded amongst the AFL playing community too.Ever seen him reported?

22 Wilsons would win you the game every week.

Michael Wilson is a tough hard footballer who never says die..........his endeavour and courage could never be questioned, you can keep all your flashy fottballers coz Wilson is the real deal, performs week in week out and his committment to the team is unquestioned............

Micheal Wilson is one great little player with a heart the size of an ox!!!!

The reason why Wilson is so inspirational for the Power boys is because they are all a bunch of skirts* and Wilson is not. As soon as Wilson and Thomas both suit up for the Power, you watch em go.

I dont think our w/l record with him is any great than without him...in fact I think its the other way around. I think our w/l without him is greater. Unfortunately for Wilbur, thats because he missed large chunks of our glory days from 01-05.

2001: 11 games
2002: 0 games
2003: 15 games
2004: 23 games
2005: 16 games

He missed a total of 59 matches across those 5 seasons. Our W/L record with him is 103-4-80

In 2004 in our premiership year, he played the final month of the year with two dislocated shoulders. His shoulders were that bad that in the Grand Final he was literally unable to tackle and had to use himself as a cannonball to stop the opposition. The week after the GF he had a double shoulder reconstruction.

He is the exact sort of player you want in your side.

Watched a bit of the Port maggies vs Sturt game today and Wilbur was giving his all as normal. See how he pulls up, hopefully ok and we'll see him back in the Power line up in the next week or so.
