Round 7, 2008 Sturt vs West Review

Postby therisingblues » Sat May 10, 2008 7:40 pm

Sturt 22.7 (139)
West 5.10 (40)

Scorers:
Sturt: Chambers 6.1, Perrie 5.0, Coad, Bentley 3.0, Crane 2.1, Evans 2.0, Sheedy 1.1, Nelson, Johncock 0.1, Rushed 0.1.
West: Brown 1.1, Hutchins, Willits, Pratt, Hamblin 1.0, Hassan, Walsh 0.2, Anderson, McCormick, Fisher 0.1, Rushed 0.2.

All scores and details gladly pinched from Jimmy on Double Blue.org.

Sturt had a welcome return to the winner's circle at the House today against a Westies unit that I and a few others were treating with respect before the match. Anything could have happened today, and I don't think I have ever been so wary of playing the bottom side while sitting top as late as round 7.
Looking forward to reading the write ups about this one, but it looks to me as though once Sturt gets the momentum going, we'll be damaging.
GO YOU BLUES!!! :D
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Great result .. I tipped an upset but I could not have been more wrong!
But yes, it was a pretty pointless comment wasn't it?!

You might get one against South. But unfortunately your second half in partricular was bad. Hang in there.

Sorry I wrongly predicted the Blues by 12.

Was 29 points out.

Sheedy, unique. Sarg fantastic. Special mentions to Wark, mcGlone, Chambo Craig Evans and Madness.

Hope Matthew Jaensh's okay after a sickening, cowardly attack allegedly in the Reserves.

Go U Blues! :D

not going to rub it in as we have been in there position before and it sucks. It could have been worst like Channel a team here in the Tassie SFL regonal league. Dodges Farry 32 - 25 217 d Dodges 1 - 3 9 and i think 2 of those points were rushed!

Great to have a big win like that, especially after our last couple of weeks but I think the result reflected more the poor state of the West Adelaide league team than it did on anything particularly special shown by Sturt. We made numerous skill errors and were just fortunate that West lacked the players to capitalise.

Having said that I was really impressed with Paynter's first half, Coad's return to league footy was excellent and I thought that Perrie's game was as good as I've seeen for Sturt (I missed his first game for us). If Luke Crane continues the form he showed on Saturday, he'll give the Magarey a fair crack.

I honestly thought that West would have put up more of a fight. What's it going to take to get your team back in a position to regularly challenge for wins Westies supporters?

Any news on Chambo? Wasn't listed as an injury in the paper but he didn't play the last qtr...
