True, Pseudo. Although having said that, the umpire did not pay the mark but signalled that he was paying a free for a push in the back from the Glenelg defender. In my eyes, it was a very soft free kick that should not have been paid.

You should know mate, you have got a similar player to Callinan in your own side with McConnell who obviously proved his worth with 5 goals today. .

You're wrong fella; McConnell kicks a bag of goals every bloody week, not just regularly.

The other thing that was super impressive about McConnell today was that he played the first quarter in defence. Those five goals came from just three quarters in attack. Both he and Grima can sure spit a pack open and take a grab. Exciting forward line!

The Bays fought harder all day, especially in the middle. Good to see Centrals fight it out til the siren.

By no means would any team be talking premierships at this stage, it would be ludicrious to do so. The competition seems as tight as it has been for quite a few years now and i think it's due to the fact that other teams are slowly reaching higher standards as well as the Dogs levelling out just slightly. I think your point Dutchy is a tadd of the mark, because if on song and at his best, Ian Callinan can be a match winner with his own boot and is more than capable of kicking between 5 and 7 goals regularly despite beong quiet (and injured) in recent weeks. We certainly missed Nutta out there today but if you throw in Chris Gowans who can kick 3,4 or 5 himslef and Thommo kicking the odd goal here and there playing on ball, before you know it Dutchy, you have those 5 - 10 goals BulldogProud was talking about. You see what I'm saying mate...

Anyway, I better get stuck into typing up my match reports now, I guess I will be back on here later tonight with my final edits...

SJABC or whatever you bloody go by,can you name the so called kids that came in for Callinan,Thomas and C.Gowans,I reckon not.Also how good of an actor is McConnell he throws himself on the ground with the slightest bit of contact.Lets say the match was at Elizabeth and we were pretty much at full strength and the Bays were without Backwell,Fisher and McConnell I reckon the result would have been very different.

Not without my budget jardog...sorry , but if I recall it was a couple of half decent ins though...

Glenelg also won the ressies with lots of late goals.

Today's league game was great, fantastic weather, great crowd and great skills and physical clashes on show.
Both sides will take a lot out of that game as Central looked sluggish in the first half and had 3 of their best players out but still managed to control most of the 2nd half before valiantly losing by 3 points.

Geez the Bays play a great brand of footy, I really enjoy watching them play at the Bay, they'll flog North next Saturday.

Dutchy, Rushby we've been extremely fortunate to play sides with out their best players.....it has nothing to do with the brand of footy we're playing or the work ethic of our boys....

We're just there to make up the numbers other teams have nothing to fear from us.....

Great day of footy.
It was great to get away with the win. I thought that the bays were below their best today, and obviously Centrals were to.
To get the points was fantastic, although they had plenty of chances to ice the game in the last quarter.

The 2nd half was amazing. Centrals showed that they can and will totally dominate games this year. Their 3rd quarter was a timely reminder that they ARE the benchmark. To Glenelg's credit they lifted and came back and won.

So as someone said in one of the early posts, both sides WILL take something positive out of the game.
As a bay fan its great to see us right up; there matching it with the powerhouse sides.

Also good to see numbers getting back to the bay. (yes we have plenty of bandwagoners)
I just wish they'd get there earlier in the day, (pay the coin or even join up) instead of freeloading by entering after half time.

Anyway, congrats to Glenelg on the win today. Injuries and suspensions happen and you need to play games without these players. All I have been saying is that we are a much better team with Chris Gowans, Paul Thomas, Ian Callinan and

Matthew Westhoff

. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see this!
However, really, if Glenelg had not won today then I wonder when they ever would have beaten Central. I think most of us would have expected Glenelg to have won by a lot more than that. Full credit to Central for getting so close.
