Brisbane a flag threat?

Postby Baron Greenback » Tue Apr 29, 2008 3:38 pm

As a biased Brisbane supporter I genuinely believe they are a chance for the flag this year.
Massive match this week against Geelong might put me back in my place a bit.
But does anyone else out there think that they are capable of winning the premiership?
I honestly believe that if Brown and Bradshaw can fire on the same day, they are capable of anything.

What he said.

You bandwagon jumper!

BTW - shouldn't you be getting behind a Tassie move into the AFL?

More inclined to believe what Hondo said ... They have a good list, but I think 3 key things stop them from getting there this year:

1. Defence - Good, but not great
2. Experience - Players who've been there 1-3yrs need more experience and the consistency and size that comes with it.
3. Geelong and Hawthorn

They have a very good foundation though, and shouldn't be far away in the next 2 years.

No flag but will have a huge say in the makeup of who gets there, will be in the top 8, reckon 2010 may well be the year of the Lions again

Picked the Lions to finish in the final eight this year, still confident that they can make it! 8)

Will finish 5-8 this year but will threaten in the next 2-5 years

Definatly not. Just off topic though, how bigger clown is Terry Wallace.Saying on the weekend that Hawthorn is the best drilled side he has seen in the past 6-7 years and then went on to say they are the best drilled side hes ever seen. Is this bloke trying to pump his tyres up so he doesnt get the sack? If Hawthorn are the best drilled side in the past 7 years there is no way in hell Richmond would have gotten within 10 goals of them let alone push them all the way. Not to mention it's only round 6. I think hawthorn still have a trend to be undisciplined at times, this may cost them come finals time. Brisbane were very agressive aswell but hawthorn at times give away silly free kicks.........

As a Hawthorn supporter i can only agree with you 100%. Some people are getting far too carried away with the Hawks start to the season. Still a hell of a lot to prove for the Hawks but the talent is there. Realising the talent is always the toughest test.

There are no prizes for finishing Ninth, to finish Eighth gives any side a chance of being a "threat" for the flag!

If Brisbane do make the Eight they have players with Finals experience and a coach who is arguably the most successfull coach in finals, so they do have several advantages over other sides if they do sneak into the Eight!

2 IFs there..

I think that they will make the 8, but still dont see that as a 'flag threat'. I see them as playing finals - that it
