This seems to be a natural onflow from closed stadia, constantly replaced turf, and ultimately padded synthetic grass, and steroid manipulated players etc.

Not to mention changing the shape of the ball to round just in case a player gets a bad bounce in general play. We CANNOT leave ANYTHING to chance!!!! :)

Bounce it but bring it back for poor bounces. Another poor bounce was the Crows v Eagles 2006 Prelim at the death of the game and it was a shocker that went straight to an Eagles player and was not bought back.......Joke.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Who gives a **** what they do?
The games so stuffed now with all the other stupid rule changes and interpretations, whats it matter.
Watching some of the Crud umpiring in the Power v Eagles game made me sick with some of the Pathetic SOFT decisions paid and other obvious ones let go.
In one instance, the ump paid a Free for hands in the Back, and the Replay showed the Port defenders Hands didn't get within a foot of his back (well 6 inches anyway). Joke.
For whats its worth , THROW THE BLOODY THING UP and let the Umps concentrate on getting the BASICS of umpiring Right and not have to worry about Bouncing Balls.

You're far too sensible and will show up the rest of us.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Ditto...

Bounce the ball in the centre, recall if not done right, throw up around the ground....

As an old ruckman I concur wholeheartedly.
