North's is 2063 (167 new members this year).

Still behind last years 2329 and the previous years 2664.

Not surprising as I know quite a few that haven't rejoined this year because of the way they feel they're treated by the club. Unfortunately North don't put any importance on membership at the minute IMHO.

A sign of the times IMHO unfortunatly. Even with zero memberships i think the CDFC would still survive comfortable due to the room with all the flashing lights between the sports bar and the lounge. I have issues with the way members have been treated at the grand final after parties.

Well that's why North doesn't really care about it's members and what benefits they get for membership when you take in millions out of pokies. 80 poker machines bringing the revenue they do get a lot better treated than the supporters or members. I think one day when the club retires off out of date old machines and updates them that they might actually plonk the used ones in the outer to replace the humans!

Bays went to 1700 a week and a half ago. Apparently 130 up on the same time last year...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think I might be one of the recent ones in that 2370. Depends if my people in Australia have signed me on yet.

Here is an update of numbers as of Friday May 16th (except for Central)

2006 & 2007 are official final figures from SANFL
2008 figures These are from club web sites or recent communications over the past month.

STURT #1
2006 - 2030
2007 - 1996 (-34 -2%)
2008 - 2370 (+374 +19%)

PORT #2
2006 - 3143
2007 - 2597 (-546 -17%)
2008 - 2129 (-468 -18%)

NORTH #3
2006 - 2664
2007 - 2329 (-335 -13%)
2008 - 2063 (-266 -11%)

GLENELG #4
2006 - 1714
2007 - 1942 (+228 +13%)
2008 - 1874 (-68 -4%)

NORWOOD #5
2006 - 2334
2007 - 1868 (-466 -20%)
2008 - 1846 (-22 -1%)

EAGLES #6
2006 - 2051
2007 - 2139 (+88 +4%)
2008 - 1764 (-375 -18%)

WEST #7
2006 - 1081
2007 - 1185 (+104 +10%)
2008 - 1710 (+525 +44%)

SOUTH #8
2006 - 1057
2007 - 1562 (+505 +48%)
2008 - 1101 (-461 -30%)

So the big movers

RISES
- West up 525 members, 44%
- Sturt up 374 members, 19%

FALLS
- South down 461 members, 30%
- Port down 468 members, 18%
- Eagles down 375 members 18%
- North down 266 members 11%

Port have been #1 in memberships every year since I started keeping track in 1999 ... can Sturt (or the secretive Bulldogs) topple them this year?

No doubt some of these figures are a few weeks out of date, please let me know if you have updated numbers.

Hey Phil,

Did the club give you a reason why they wouldn't release our membership numbers to date ???

Hopefully they weren't down so much they were embarrased to release the figures ???

Surely not, I would think we would be floating around the same + and/or - of the other clubs ???

Big Phil...

P.S - I know Centrals have 1 new member this year, ME, I didn't join last year (but should have) because I played footy myself but committed to them this year as I've decided to have a year off to rest my dodgy knee and ankle...

The club has never released these figures publicly, I know the reason but don't particularly agree with it.

Our membership numbers are on track for an increase over last season is one thing I have been told.
