Crows and/or Power Board on here?

Talk on the national game

Those are roughly the stats we talked about in the mods room, Hondo.

I think it's a good idea, personally. Give the Crows (and Port, although they already have one elsewhere) fans a board to post in and the AFL board here will become much more diverse.

It is not a bad idea.

I don't think you are in much danger of losing too much traffic to BigFooty though as the Crow and Power boards over there are pretty pissweak and pathetic.

So you think a Collingwood board should be created as well

That would be a good idea. Punk could use it to argue with himself.

So 70% of the current traffic would make it deserted? :?

I would have thought you would jump at the chance of less Crows threads, given your penchant for sticking the boot into them (or is that why you want them to stay in one forum? ).

70% of current traffic? My good man there lies, damm lies and statistics. If that 70 percent is worked out based on 'threads' rather than posts per thread per board then the latter would equate to the former. This forum is a fairly quiet one, at least it is in the AFL board (that's in comparision to some other forums I am aware of). I don't really see the need for a Crows or Power board. Creating diversity by segregating the audience just doesn't work...just ask Pauline Hanson (famous Ippy girl ha ha).

And shame on you...as if I would stick the boots into the Crows! :-"

Maybe REB means that all the Crows/Power fans already on the AFL Board will stop posting on the general AFL forum and hide away in the Crows/Power ones?

Assuming the majority of AFL Posters are Crows or Power leaving non-Crows/Power supporters such as Wedgie, Dutchy, REB, smac, SJABC and others all to themselves?

Hopefully a Crows/Power forum would not have that effect but its worth thinking about I have to admit

I'll have to take your word on that part of the stats - I will admit to only reading about 20% of the threads in this board, based on the thread starter/last poster.

But even so, that would improve the threads with a bit of luck, prevent them from turning into Crows threads.

Idea of the new forums would ideally provide the opportunity for some growth for the site by getting new members (Crows fans ideally who havent got a SA based fan forum) so yes I can see REB's point if there wasnt this growth, however with adequate promotion hopefully it would see plenty of new members = more revenue opportunities = this site no longer being a loss making operation....

Would also hope that the Crows fans still posted in the AFL threads and vice versa....

I think it's a good idea. I also think it would be good if SAFooty had a seperate spot for all the SANFL clubs as well, much like bigfooty has for all the AFL clubs. I know almost all clubs have their own forum, but IMO it's so much better going to the one spot for all your info as opposed to going to another website.

I think that the idea has merit and anything that can be done to increase the footprint that this site has on football within the state can only be good for sponsors and in turn, the site in general.

Especially with the Crows not having their own site, if we could make SAFooty the home for Crows talk then who knows where it could end up!

ie, if we get some runs on the board the club may want to assist or even direct people from their site ..... who knows but its a real opportunity

EDIT/UPDATE .... there is a forum of sorts on the AFC website in their "club corner" section where supporters can "have your say". But it looks more like the sort of thing on the newspaper sites where you can comment on specific stories - in fact it looks like nothing more than comments on each week's game rather than free-for-all discussion. Not the same as a forum like this one.

Considered the seperate forums for various clubs in the past but didn't think its warranted since every club has a fans forum already set up (which we provide links to on the front page).

Agreed.
Doesn't hurt to trial it, if it works we keep it, if it doesn't we get rid of it, simple! :D
