Ebert back to the Magpies next week.

Westhoff needs to learn how to keep his feet and not go to ground at the slightest contact, or dive trying to con a free kick

Need to do something about our backline, now way near good enough. Chad Cornes needs to spend more time there and stay away from the forward 50.

Tredrea is working his ass off up forward, but not enough help. Motlop in and out of the game too much.

Surely you'd keep Ebert in ahead of Westoff? He is a liability in present form and is getting knocked off the ball far too easily. I'd back Ebert to regain touch faster than Westhoff who looks totally devoid of confidence. Send him back to the Doggies to kick a few bags and bring him back with his confidence restored.

It is funny how you mention how Richmond might have made a mistake not trading Richo and using Kane as your example, but finish up your post speaking of Motlop who was acquired because Port traded Choppy when 'he was still worth something'. It shows that while you might offload a player, it doesn't mean you are going to come out on top. I've never rated Motlop because his toughness is artificial and he doesn't appear to work hard enough. Port appear to have too many 'outside' players in the squad at the moment and badly miss Wilson as has been stated. The loss of Thomas was a critical factor in the defeat tonight as well. Perhaps players such as Salopek, Surjan and Cassisi need to do a little more grunt work. Someone needs to stand up.

As for your backline, why not Warren to CHB? Is he adaptable enough to hold down this key position? He is much more mobile than last season so, while he might not be a Joel Bowden perhaps he could do a Tom Harley type of role and provide real leadership in the back half. Port need to get a bit funky I believe as the same old routines aren't fooling anyone anymore.

Sheesh, Choco has some work to do!

Certainly got a HUGE problem, but sacking Williams i dont think is the way to solve it. Hard work and a bit of patience is what's needed.

Actually just on the crowd...Port got 25,205 there tonight..not flash.

BUT

23,427 to see the Roos vs the Dees (North Melbourne home game) is a disgrace.

No matter how the memberships go etc, if this many people rock up to their home game
they will continue to battle the AFL on relocation....

Tredrea gives 110%.

Ebert back to the Magpies.

Brogan what did he do wrong? yes he gives away a few frees but who would replace him?

Burgoyne.... Shaun is better than Peter, Peter picks up cheap kicks....

Thurstans..... give him a chance

Tredrea- passed it
Ebert- your father's name will only take you so far
Brogan - cost them the game last week. No Brains
Burgoyne- does the easy things, too soft for the hard stuff
Thurstans- hasn't progressed into the player port need. Not good enough.
Pearce-lazy & soft
C.Cornes- players look to him for inspiration. Time to shut his mouth and play like he can. Biggus Headis

Funny thing is, now that I've thought about it, while keeping an eye on the weather radar, it was really only that heavy over West Lakes. Then it thinned out while travelling onwards. Brisbane's combat game came to the fore when it happened.

Brisbane would be better conditioned for wet weather footy then Port, but hell still no excuse..

Carp. They overachieved last year and don't have any inside ball winners. Their fowards are horribly out of form as is the backline. Get rid of Choco now and you'll add five years to the rebuild.

ANY other AFL coach wouldn't allow that performance. When Brisbane got within 4 goals, he should have changed something or done something to stop the Lions. No other AFL coach would let that happen to their side. Other AFL teams have worse lists than Port but they still manage to get something out of it and get a win.

WILLIAMS has got to go.........

Absolute Bulltish. Mark Thompson wasn't exactly ringing the changes that black day in 2006 when West Coast came from even further behind to knock us off at Cat Park that time. After that match I was making similar sorts of comments as you are now and I was proven wrong...just as you will be when Port stick by Choco and begin to turn their form around. Your post is an emotional knee jerk reaction to a pretty ordinary loss but I can say that I've been there before and I understand how you feel but knifing the coach in round four is NOT the answer.

So if Choco gets the ar5e what happens? Do they bring in Peter Rhode FFS? Or would you suggest rolling out Sheedy or Pagan or even John Cahill again ha ha. Rebuilds don't happen overnight and all we are seeing now is that Port overachieved last season and a few of their blokes have been worked out. The problem isn't that they have gotten worse, it's just that they haven't improved.

Yep a rainy summer in BrisVegas. What happened tonight is the only thing I tell my son about footy (as he has already played a hell of a lot more games than me and has a coach to tell him about the game) "If you are going for the ball and the other kid wants it more he gets it".

This is why I'm a bit bemused by all the 'sack Choco' comments. He can't get the aggot for em.

Spot on REBmeister...

Brisbane wanted it more, adapted to the wet footy al ot better, had TWO forwards who presented and won the footy...

I dare say if it stayed dry, Port would've won as they didn't adapt to the wet at all....

West Coasters next week...they are shite too..so will be interesting...possibly 0-5.

I'm not going to say anything people wouldn't have already realised, but it is worth repeating. The Port team of 2004 had players such as James, Hardwick, Carr, Pickett, Montgomery, etc, and also had Francou on the list. All of these players were hard at it, and had a crack irrespective of the situation the game was in.

The current brand of Port midfielder are all running players, very good when the ball is running Port's way, but inadequate when the opposition get on top. The moment this happens (ala 2007 GF, Sydney 2008, Brisbane 2008), these "pretty" players go missing.

Opposition sides have worked out that no matter what the score, there will come a time in the match when they will have the initiative, so they hang in there waiting for their chance. This is basically where I see Port's weakness. Also, the fact that an injury riddled Tredrea isn't the player he was in 2004 doesn't help much either.

Along with West Coast's recent form, it serves as a reminder of how quickly things can change in the AFL.

Williams has been coaching Port for almost 10 years now! Surely he knows what to do when a team starts to come back at him. That day at Cat Park was different, Thompson was more inexperienced and hadn't coached a premiership!

Williams has coached a premiership side so surely he would know what to do when a team gets a run on and starts coming back. I can not see Williams taking Port to another premiership, his time is done, he is finished.

THEY OVERACHIEVED, is that going to be Port's trademark now? because every time Port lose now, i always here that line. Who gives a crap what happened last year, that was last year! get on with it, we have a similar side to last year that made the Grand Final! We should be killing off sides like Adelaide and Brisbane.

Yes, im very p1ssed that Port lost, but something has got to change and i say Williams has to go.

WTF is the AFL thinking bringing in new sides when your have underachieving jokes like Port Adelaide going around who can't even draw a crowd in an Australian Rules Football state let alone get within 100 points of a decent team in a game that counts?

The experiment has failed, no crowd, no heart, no score, Port are a joke in the AFL.

Bring a 2nd composite side in Adelaide now to replace Port before going any further now AFL before its too late!!!!!! :?

Port are the biggest joke of the entire world.
