Is this an initiative of the AFL to take the 'Western' part out of the name before 'Western Sydney' joins the league?

IIRC Foot-escray became the Western Bulldogs in 1997 or 98, when they first looked at playing some away games in Sydney. Sort of a long term secretive view that they may relocate to Sydney eventually...

However the official view was to appeal to teh broader Western Suburbs of Melbourne....

Who do the residents around Deer Park barrack for now that Western Bulldogs wish to allign themselves with the "trendy"    inner Western suburbs of Melbourne...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the back of the jumper the letters FFC are written up by the scruff of the neck?
Same with the Sydney guernseys with the SMFC on the back?

I'd always assumed it had its origin in a play called "And the Big Men Fly" in which "Carn the Crows!" was a theme.

The football clubs were named the Brisbane Bears Football Club & Fitzroy Football Club (i.e. NOT Fitzroy Lions Football Club).
