Yeah, I guess it's a bit like those home photos where the TV's on in the background and you can see the light and dark areas on the screen. The only answer is to lengthen the exposure time accordingly, and how you do that depends on the camera.

I think the scoreboard itself is very neat, and the scrolling "round the ground scores" (as cited by redandblack) sounds like a better use of scoreboard space than a manual scoreboard. However, agreeing with others, "Visitors" should have the actual team name at this level of the game, and "WestAde" looks untidy, should be "West" or "Westies" .

Westies have been criticised (rightly) for years about their time clock.

Now that they are the first club in the league to put up an electronic scoreboard that worked perfectly, it's disappointing that a small minority of posters can still only criticise. As for respect for other clubs, (Bay supporters), have a look at what your Club provides for visitor's rooms before talking about respect for other clubs.

I think that anyone who went to Broadspectrum yesterday saw an oval in wonderful condition.

won't argue with that as they are not great, check that they are not even good....however at least we give a seperate strapping room unlike some and both teams are accommodated under one roof- not yours R&B....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

so what is happening to the old scoreboard? you can run a tour to raise some funds now westies with the scoreboard from the 80's still there and then the one up until 2007 there. now if westies can play it would be good.

I would suggest that the old score board will be retained as backup while any teething issues are sorted and then used for major sponsors similar to the very old score board on the western wing.

Thought the scoreboard was excellent ... I really can't fault a day at Richmond and yesterday was yet another example of a good day out ... The oval's in top nick, there's plenty of space, food and drink is well priced and easy to get in a short amount of time and the clubrooms are excellent.

Obviously they're a little bit down on the field at the minute (not alone there either) but I rate the WAFC as a whole, very highly.

Richmond Oval has always been a favourite and is very underrated within our competition.

From what I've seen from Wedgies picture, and the reports that it works perfectly, it looks alright. Perhaps the team names could have also been electronic as well.

At least it no longer looks like a ransom note.

Maybe put some seats on the old score board and sell then as premium seats and have a canteen lady bring up a pie and coke at half time. :)

Love Richmond but not too keen on what I see in that pic.

It seems that those who went to the game thought the new board was great, subject to minor criticisms about 'visitors'.

Those who didn't go aren't so impressed.

Wait until you see it at a game.

Looking forward to it, but serious question R&B, do you think having a scoreboard with the term visitors on it is befitting the standard of the league we claim ours to be?

I mean even a porly resourced club like Sturt (back in 1998 not now for all you Sturt supporters) when they went back to Unley ensured the name of the visitng team was on the new scoreboard.

*edit* My basic philosophy is I don't want to see our clubs or league drop standards to what I consider to be country/amateur level. It is why I was critical of the cars around the oval at Noarlunga and I'll be critical of any scoreboard at a regular league venue that has the term 'Visitors" at SANFL level.

Fully expect other posters ont his site to criticise my club for a drop in standards like the lack of a southern toilet block which like the timeclock at Richmond will be fixed - eventually....

Hey at least Psuedo could finally enjoy a beer on Snouts Hill at the Bay for the first time in yonks last weekend now that we have a permanent erection* for food and beer ratehr tahn a caravan.

Yes, I'd personally prefer the opposing teams name to be shown and 'West Ade' to be just 'West', but to me these are minor matters which will be sorted out at some stage. I think these criticisms obscure what Westies have done, which is to go from the worst system (time clock) in the league to the best.

The kiosk in the outer was also opened for the first time in many years and as a West supporter it's great to see what the administration are doing to upgrade our oval.

Tassie....yep the pie/pastie people were still there and they taste as good now as they did 20 years ago.

I thought the scoreboard was great....very easy to read (not that I wanted to look at it too often). The ground was looking sensational also. With the coffee van, the jumping castle and opening the outer kiosk, they are really trying to cater to everyones need.
