Navy Blue

Postby blues2002 » Thu Apr 03, 2008 8:37 pm

Have Sturt ever been known as the "Navy" blue?

We are the double blues of course, but the "shout" I got from the club...

.. Rick want us to be "hanging from the rafters", to "cheer on the navy blue"

OK it may be pedantic but it made me feel like a Carlton supporter *horror*

Don't think it was a navy blue but they definately had a guernsey once which was predominately dark blue, easily better than the atrocity they wear these days too.

"The Blues", "the Double Blues", "the Blue Baggers", "the Smurfs", but never ever have I heard anyone call Sturt, "the Navy Blues". Maybe Rick is slightly nervous.

The guy sitting to the left of this message had a bit more navy on his guernsey than is on there nowadays. But I have also read somewhere that he was the guy that designed the current one.
Wedgie, Sturt's guernsey is a masterpiece. Michaelangelo would have put his brush down after completing such a work and then hung it on the roof of the Cisteen Chapel.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Are you sure he didn't use it to clean the cistern? Easy mistake to make.

Would it have been better if he'd urged you to "cheer on the royals"? or "the skies"?

I believe the reason they are double blue is to do with the two streets that border Unley " Oval "....when it was an oval. Cambridge and....help me out Sturt supporters.....was the colours of those universities or some such thing. Guess it might be Oxford ?

Regardless the Sturt jumper is the worse jumper in the history of the SANFL......how any man could play football in a powder blue jumper is beyond me. the colour makes me ill quite frankly.

Could be worse...they could use the true Cambridge and Oxford blues. Oxford is a very dark blue, almost navy, unfortunately my wonderful Cambridge is a vile blue/green. Just imagine these two colours together.

Well I think we need to arrange a quote of the year award.

You get all the 6 votes Pseudo awarded for this round , in fact I reckon you desere the medal right now. The crap and shallow articles that guy wites amazes me , he is really pathetic. Give me Doug Robertson any day. And just on that , is Doug still doing the SANFL ?
