Modbury without Vassal, Gunning and Garfoot. Vanderveld (young kid) is one to watch this year for the hawks he kicks very straight and only bloke under 6 foot that i have seen that can kick over 60-70 metres accurately.

Modbury play TTG this Saturday should be a good game. I Heard that Gullies got beaten easy and may be fighting to stay up they have lost vertachudes, wicks and dawson and recruited nothing to replace.

Also Uni lost to Gepps and the word on here is that they are unbeatable this year?? did anyone see the game and can comment players out etc for UNI???

about 6 out from the a's and a couple who could only play the b grade trial. watched the first half which was close on the ground but not on the scoreboard (8.2 to 0.8 of which 7 shots were set shots). gepps had more structure which is not really surprising given that it was the first outing for the blacks with a few players who had only been out at training for a week or two. uni also have a very young side that will take some time to gel. gepps will cause some headaches - some big key position players with some very handy crumbers and runners with a very simple gameplan of moving it quickly and directly to the larger players.

the word has come from others not from any uni source that i'm aware of - we should make the 5 however and anything's possible from there. uni's b grade should make top three.

yeah i was just suprised as alot of talk was around that UNI would be unbeatable and dominate. I think div 2 this year will be very even should great competition. last year Port Districts were far to good and seaton were good one there day but very beatable.

Everyones beatable Blues08.
As far as last year didn't Seaton only lost 1 more game than Districts?
Districts were a very good side & beatable, Seaton proved that winning by 9 pts only losing by 1pt & 6pts.
Modbury's problem last year was they got too cocky after beating a depleted Seaton at Modbury, gobbing off after the game, then what happens?? it all come back & bites you right in the ass!!

Gobbing off after the game???? hahaha we ran out of legs after some key injuries including having our skipper on the sidelines and full forward on one leg i think we did well to only loose by a few goals. Seaton will be back down soon enough. Port Districts were a far better team than enyone in Div 2 last year and yes everyone is beatable but Ports had to have a very very bad day to loose. DIv 2 this year will be a whole lot tighter

Yes mate they were the far better side thats why they won the flag.
You don't like to give credit to Seaton at all do you Blues08? Maybe thats because you feel as tho Modbury should of been there before Seaton.
You guys had a very good strong side & had the better of Seaton in the minor round & you want to blame 2 injured players as an excuse for not beating them in the finals? Its a different ball game finals champ, you had 2 chances & blew them both.
Seaton had a few out aswell, not forgetting the dirty prick that king hit Marshall. As depleted as Seaton were up to the Grand Final, all the boys could hold there heads up losing it by only 28pts.
Pt Dist wern't that far ahead of Seaton as far as results went in 08, check the premiership table & read the previous post, can't you read those margins i gave you from their 3 games prior to the GF? Very close margins wouldn't you say Bluey?? Oh thats right Port played bad.

I will admit Seaton isnt my favourite club and have only ever played against you for 1 year (and the crows lost to hawthorn whilst that final was on haha).... Seaton did play much better in the finals and exposed alot of older players and had he DIV 1 hardness we didnt have. Not blaming a loss on 2 players just saying we had alot of injuries in the last half of the year which made our players taht were on the field underdone and exposed last years lack of depth(this year a total different story as far as depth). Are Seaton going to be the Div 1 bunny again NM or have they the squad to stay in a Div 1 for more than one year???

Atleast they do get there, when were you last in Div1?

As far as staying up i hope they do, its going to be tough.
Modbury wouldn't know that tho, the clubs used to Div3 or below.

Modbury has been in lower div's yes that is because there is no money being thrown around. Credit to the club that we have got to Div 2 and been competative without paying a cent other than as small amount per win to the whole A grade team. No point wasting your tim switching Divs

Vassall played a good deal of league footy for Norwood out of the Back Pocket in and around the 05 season. He'll be a very good SAAFL footy player I'd suggest and as importantly is a really good young bloke. Gunning is HFFlanker type with a really reliable left foot kick and knows where the goals are. He played a little bit of reserves footy for Nwd

FC's Kiss o' death...

First round is always hell to pick, so here goes:

Adelaide University v Edwardstown - only because Towns are an unknown entity. Uni would want to be somewhat more accurate than they have been in their recent trial games though
PHOS Camden v Sacred Heart OC
Pembroke OS v Scotch OC
Modbury v SMOSH West Lakes
Athelstone v Payneham NU - I hope Im wrong of course but these games are like showdowns. Previous form means nothing..no matter which div we're both in.

Looks like we'll be heading in as favourites this week

Ha, should be a good game out at Modbury. Hows the oval atm?

Haven't played there since under 17's but was pretty good back then.

Few big clashes early; PNU vs Raggies and PHOS vs SHOC's should be crackers!
