Actually until you guys can come up with anything of substance to convince me and the greater football public that Port doesn't have a problem in this area (because based on what we are seeing, they do), this argument has been won by me, by default.
They obviously don't have a problem in that area according to you because you think they'll beat the crows.

Of course I don't REALLY expect Port to win, I'm just saying that I am, because that's the entire point, I'm playing along with the rest of you who don't want to think that perhaps their Port team cannot handle contested football.

If you want to discuss the kangaroos further then by all means PM me, I'm talking about Port here though. Don't be insulting, I don't insult you, I expect the same courtesy.

Yeah...smart move to edit there. But seriously, back up MY statements? How about you guys tell me why I'm wrong about Port if you're so adamant?

You insulted me by your initial statement, and then insulted me again by not responding and backing up your statement, by this I can then safely assume you have NFI.....quite simple really....
you chose to comment on the Kangaroos on this thread, yet if I want to Ive got to PM you?....again NFI
Dont believe what you said?.....then thats gutless
Hope this clarifies things

Anyway I agree with the OP. The Power haven't drafted too smart over the past year or two as they have added more players who are quick, flashy and skillful but will never be guys to get the contested ball on a regular basis. That’s where the Crows have done well at the draft table, adding a good mix of both. In Knights, Reilly, Thompson, VB, Vince and co we have a great balance and IMO our midfield is shaping up really, really well.

You know full well what happened running into the GF. An Eagles outfit running on one leg, a talentless Kangaroos outfit. Port supporters, and indeed the rest of the competition deep down inside, know that Port wasn't the most worthy opponent for the Cats. But credit to them, they made it to that final match with a side that had no right to get there. Of course, we all know what happened when they came up against a genuinely physical side; there was nowhere to hide, nowhere to run, they couldn't handle contested footy when it came right down to it, and they will continue to struggle with this (the whole foundation of footy) until they start blooding some hunters of the ball.
I'm so f****** sick of hearing this s***t argument. Port made the GF because they were one of the best 2 teams - PERIOD. The other teams didn't make the GF because they weren't bloody good enough. Yes Port got thumped, but they were clearly the next best placed side to be competing in the GF.
Either way Port got there and full credit to them but when they did get there they were exposed in contested footy, and badly too. You don't think it's an issue?

That's what gets me about these forums, everyone loves to bag someone who makes a bold statement, but when it comes to actually telling them why they are so very wrong (if they are), they don't have anything of use to say.

For all the praise they have received for their recruiting, their kids are just about all outside receivers who get monstered by the physical sides. And what of their quietly developing players? Marlon Motlop, Krakouer and so on...they are the same fleet-footed hands-off types that they already have.

They won that flag before they began their absurdly unbalanced recruiting. James, Hardwick, Carr were all part of that side were they not? Since then they have taken on a pace obsession and have recruited with this obsession. If you don't agree that they have loaded up on too many of the same types of players you are outright kidding yourself. It is a clear issue.
