Who said anything about a senior game, he was from the SANFL (which encompassed 10 clubs and 4 grades). Its not North Adelaide's fault he wasn't good enough for their 87 side. :?
Don't blame the bloke for taking a step down and joining the VFL so he could get a game.

Would have got a game these days. Quite a few players made their debut at age 16 from memory and none of them were as good as Carey.

Dexter was actually 15.
And I don't know about Brisbane but I'm pretty sure Mark Williams captained Collingwood.

He did captain both, at least in an acting capacity - there was a thread in the AFL board recently about players who have captained multiple clubs, Williams appeared in that list for Brisbane & Collingwood.

To the best of my knowledge, Chocco never captained the Bears, refer to:-

scroll down to their "Honour Roll".

Acting captains wouldn't appear on that list though.

Ron Andrews - captained Essendon in 1982
Michael Long - co-captain of Essendon with James Hird in 1999.
Wayne Johnston - captained Carlton in 1984,85.
Haydn Bunton Sr - captain of Fitzroy
Noel Teasdale - captain of North Melbourne 1965-67
Barry Goodingham - captain of North Melbourne 1971
Colin Rice - captain of Geelong 1960

I know only Michael Long played SANFL BEFORE going to the VFL/AFL but I thought I'd throw the others in :)
