Paul Stewart

Talk on the national game

Paul Stewart

Postby corona » Thu Mar 20, 2008 10:21 am

Its great to see Paul Stewart get his first AFL game for tonights season opener.
He had an average year last season playing only a handful of league games for the Eagles, and had some injuries, but has performed really well pre-season and has now been given the chance.

It seems he has overcome those "first year on the list problems" that some kids have...ie.. HUGE training load they have to get used to.

Another Henley FC junior we are all proud of.

Good luck tonight Stewie !!!

3 goals down towards the end of the last quarter, i wouldn't say Port has been that bad, in fact i'll that say there will be a heap of games involving the Cats with higher margins than this match.

Back to Paul Stewart - did a couple of things - broke tackles, got in the right positions, to indicate that he has what it takes to play at that level, just needs more of a run and his confidence will come, as he made a couple of errors/handling mistakes you wouldnt expect.

I was impressed with Paul Stewart last night, for a bloke that would of been nervous as hell before his debut outing, especially against last years premiers showed alot of poise, character & composure, aswell as maturity.
He's a bloke we'll be seeing alot more of & i wish him all the best.
He's a good lad to go with it to.

I really lost interest at half-time and did something else with the time, not being a Port fan anyway, and being disgusted with their play. I was surprised to read this morning how little Geelong won by and I assumed thay had just slacked off in the second half when they had it won already.
