Poor result only 1 week out from the season proper but you do have to take into account the list of 11 outs for North who would be first choice under normal circumstances. Some of those "borderline" players who played in the league last night clearly didn't put "their flag in the ground" as Jars would say.

Wintle - Rested
Younie - Rested
Sporn - Rested
Alleway - Rested
Ryswyk - Rested
Ward - Hammy won't be back until Rd 3
McIntyre - leg but will play next week
Clarke - Back, at best Round 4 or 5
S.Motlop - Hammy & only 50/50 for next week
O'Hara - knee & and only 50/50 for next week but should be back round 3 after the bye.
Ivens - Ressies (first trial for him this year) but will play seniors next week.

Drebin, no disputing that. In the end, a trial is worth nothing. It is just an opportunity to try a few things out. Central had performed poorly in their two previous trials and Roy really did want the boys to show that they could put in at least one big trial - thankfully, they can!

Despite our "outs" the final margin is unaccceptable 1 week out from the season proper against the leagues dominant oufit who also had quite a few outs but as you said it is only a trial and I suppose it is better to get pumped in a game that means nothing than when it really counts in the season proper.

Centrals belted North by 84 pts at Elizabeth in R1.
North lost 2 more games for the year & won the flag... 8)

Was altra impressed with Danny Boyle and Ryan Williams last night unfortunatly if all the players that are expected to be back for round 1 do come back one of them may miss out.
Cameron Faulkner also had a cracker a proved he could be very very handy this year after a couple of very disappointing trial games. He came of at three quarter time and had iced his hamstring but the ice was off by end of game. There maybe some doubt whether he will play this saturday.
Another player who was in my best was Earl Shaw, a couple of North supporters on this site laughed at the suggestion he may be a handy player this season but from what i have seen in three trial games he may be the best tap ruckmen in the league. Haven't seen him loose a centre bounce yet his work around the ground is acceptable as well seems to play a kick behind the play but then went forward and kicked a couple.
After worrying signs early (we really did look ordinary in the first two trials) the intensity and enthusiasm is back heading into round 1. Im expecting a crowd of between 9000 and 11000 at 'the beff' saturday night bring it on.

How many key position players missed out for North, and who is the second ruckman ? Unless they get some height into that team methinks they could struggle this season, fifth at best ?

Mr Irate, North had plenty of key position players missing. Don't read anything into trial games - it is just an opportunity to experiment. North will definitely be around the mark this year and are my tip for the flag.

Once again the local toilet paper gave it a good report(NOT).If you either didnt go or read Big Phils report you would have no idea what happened. Both teams had plenty out and I`m pretty sure that Ladhams played some of the 2nd half but the paper reported that he rested in the 2nd half. Its only early but Boyle is going to be a player to watch and possibly a chance to get on the powers main list by the end of the season. Also liked Trent Goodrems game and I reckon he won a place in the side for round 1 with his encouraging performance.
