the funny thing was apart from the 1st qtr we played our kids and lesser lights through the midfield (C KAne, Fosdike Murphy Lally Allen etc)

Our defensive pressure was excellent today. Our offensive run and ability to hit targets wasn't so good.

Still alot of improvement in us to go yet and given that the West players are still learning Collin's system not that impressive a win.

A few ins to come back yet for us Bode and Fisher primarily.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Eagles looked impressive in their 40 point win against dogs. On paper at least the dogs looked near full strength and the eagles still had many men sitting in the stands. some of the noted missing were McKenzie, Cicolella, Colville, Passador, Schwarze, Grocke and Couch. Some handy names still to come back in. Salter looked very good with 5 goals. Twomey created lots of problems up forward with his pack marking ability he needs to be practicing his set shots on goal though. Again some promising signs shown from some juniors coming through. Looks like the Eagles will be better than the 7th placed prediction in the sportsbeat this week.

I forgot about Passador eagle has landed .But Schwarze played very well down back .
And I for 1 had very little faith about the league team before the game.

I thought it was a spear tackle, but I was suprised the free was paid, the push in the back determinations seemed much more leniant last night, perhaps the spear is the new flavour for 08.

Granted, yes you do have a few quality players sitting in the stands, but that is a redicilous comment to make without knowing your facts mate. Yeah, you guys have got some quality to come back in but they are matched, if not bettered, by the players that didn't play league today...

Guys like: Jason McKenzie, Ian Callinan, Chad O'Sullivan, Kane Officer, Chris Musolino, Andrew Hayes, Jeremy Aufderheide, Nathan Steinberner, Daniel Havelberg, Trent Goodrem, Keiren McShane, Loius Hadden, Alex Stengle, Brayden O'Hara, possibly at some stage throughout the year - Brad Symes, Justin Westhoff, Jonathon Griffin

Don't worry, we'll bounce back and be more than competitive come round 1. Bring it on, trials are exactly that TRIALS... :D

Who cares who was in or out for each side its only March and its too f`n hot to waste energy trying to win meaningless trial games.Still a few players yet to play has anyone got any idea when Callinan,O`Sullivan,Havelberg.Aufderheide,Steinberner and Officer will play. The only criticism so far is that the club may have gone into the season a few key position players short.

MickyJ...You stated Schwarze played very well down back in today's trial, Schwarze did not actually play at all, number 11 was McEntee and he was ok.

Some of your guys looked a little heavy/tired a late preseason perhaps ?
I think what WWT did to Centrals today Sturt and Westies did to WWT the last two weeks .
Hopefully our clubs will be around in the finals .

Well he looked like Schwarze kicked to eagle players like Schwarze does.
The players were calling him Ben as well.
Perhaps CD will let us know.

port looked quite good but maybe they looked better then what they were because south were really quite pathetic. souths skill level was quite abysmal and they really need to stop running the sand hills and actually grab hold of a footy and do some skills

i heard jack on the radio back in january and i dont think he expects too much, i cant see the sfl lads he has in there quite cutting it against the big boys

Eagles dominated the first half. I thought Centrals gave alot better account of themselves in the second half.

Eagles looked great Nick Salter looked in superb touch. Positives for the dogs were the performances of new guys Shaw and Boyle . Also Luke Cowans strong return after a season on the sidelines would have pleased the coaching staff. His pack marking was excellent, i'll be honest i forgot how good he was. Great to see luke Mcabe back he got a bit of it and tackled well just couldnt hit a target all day unfortunately.

Havelberg Callinan and Osullivan should play in this thursdays trial and be ready for round one. Giles seem to hurt an ankle in a ruck contest. I dont think he played the second half but I could be wrong.
Centrals 16.11 107 North 5.12 42 the dynasty continues .

Mate I wasn't writing CDFC off. We are all aware that round 1 kicks off that they'll be more than competitive. I looked at your side on paper and you still appeared very strong is what I was saying. I'm not getting too excited just yet as it was only a trial. But signs do show we'll be better than the predicted 7th.

Well the two of us thought it was, he had his shoulder strapped like ben does, he kicked to players like ben does .And that kept calling him shwattooo
Perhaps Cd or Columbo can confirm or deny.
For my money the guy u thought it was was limping around in front of the GS with his knee strapped and iced.

There was a change of jumpers and No 11 was McEntee yesterday - Schwarze wasnt in league game.

The league game was slightly different too in that the first 2 quarters were normal arrangement with the heat policy stops and 20 minutes plus time on. The second half became 2 20 minute no time on quarters with no break.

Youngsters again for us played well with Staples, Raynor, Broadbrent, Mackie, Rimington all doing well - again the match committee swung guys into different positions and used the bench alot for rotations.

Again a good trial - we've improved each week and have seen lots of players in game conditions and used in a variety of positions. Now we have a week off to freshen up ready for round one against North at Prospect.

Remember Free Members Night on Thursday 27th March to launch our season.
