Not at all, just means Port never won a VFL premiership, competed in the SANFL until 97 when it joined the AFL. I'm always bemused by people comparing results of recent AFL seasons to scores between Fitzroy and ST Kilda in 1921 or whenever. That was the VFL, and isn't relevant to whats happening in today's national competition.

As for premierships, its much more applicable to split up AFL and VFL premierships, just as it would be to split up SANFL and AFL premierships.

Not at all, just means Port never won a VFL premiership, competed in the SANFL until 97 when it joined the AFL. Port Adelaide Magpies won all the flags before 1997. I didn't hear anyone support Port Power before 1996.

The Magpies won all those flags. The Power have only won one.

They are TWO different teams and TWO different clubs

As long as he realises that it was the Port Board that split the club and shafted the Magpies and most Port fans deserted the Magpies to jump on the soon to be successful (Yes the board thought they would absolutely dominate the AFL) Port Power.

Port fans seem to want it both ways. Then the Crows can claim every other SANFL flag as their own as well as 1997 & 1998.

Soon they will claim Collingwood's flags also because they are the Magpies.

I would say Port Adelaide won 37 SANFL flags and 1 AFL flag. And thats It. The Port Adelaide Football club was successful in the sanfl and got the right to enter into the AFL. They now exist in both comps. Simple as that. Try not to think to hard, the simplest answer is often the best.
