Mark would be a FOOL to jump onboard with Jack & South after playing his whole career at Port.

Homer wrote:OK lets get the facts straight, Mark Clayton was sacked as Captain, the club decided this at the end of the season last year and he was only told Wednesday night before training in the dining room of the Prince of Wales Hotel while there were members of the publice present!! He wasn't told by the coach cause he wasn't even there, it was Matthew Richardson who delivered the news. Not surprinsingly Mark did have this weekend off to contemplate his future and going to another club at this stage has not even been considered. It goes without saying how badly the club have handled this situation, just like they have so many times before.

If this claim by JMO is true,

The last club to bow to a "stars" demands to be captain was my lot in 2002 - the reward for bowing to the star syndrome - a spoon, IIRC

Mind you J Clayton is a much better player than J Byrne....

Never a good sign if the tail wags the dog in footy.

If its true.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

port magpies my pick for the spoon.

they have the worst coach in the league who doesnt like the board/some of the senior players a great deal.

its a recipe for disaster IMHO.

J Clayton captain?
Don't think a good move if thats their thoughts.
J.Clayton great player yet very much all for himself, no team-mate respects this bloke as he shows no respect what so ever to his own team-mates. A very much all for himself type that diregards team rules.
He's kidding himself if he thinks he should be the next captain.
He's a player i believe is way over payed, with a communication problem.

I agree, but i think the communication problem is from the coaching staff to JC, no one has the balls to disipline him when obvious team rules are broken re. final against South in 06

I thought Tim Ginever was senior coach, a man who i thought has the final say in selection of team & who's captain etc.
Seems like the board are running the show down there not Tim.

Clayton probably has one- two yrs left in him, why would he want to finish his career at another club?
He's played 200 games at the club, start & finish their i say, stuff the not so smart decision making of the board & throw it back in their faces.
As for Jack Dogga, i'm not no. :o
