Was at the shops last Thursday and heard the whistles from South Adelaide so went over to have a look. You don't recognise the place as you drive in with the redevelopments.

Anyway saw the last half of a Internal Trial which appeared to be League Squad vs Reserves Squad. The League side in Blue was way too good for the Yellow side.

South looked to be working the ball around not a lot of corridor footy and as with any Internal Trial some very poor skills at times.

Denis Illjcesen kicked 3 in the last qtr, Gerrad Bennett looked to be moving around Half Forward, Handby on a back flank and into the midfield on occasions. Prendergast looked to take some solid marks around the ground.

Not being a South Fan just popped in for interest sake so I couldn't pick too many other players out.

I heard at an internal Trial that south brought in a 19 yo ruckman from the NT .The only ruckman they had in the 2's squad .He rucked the whole game and had a gash in his head blood everywhere. the league won by over 100 points .

Ive always wondered (and certainy don't have the answer) with internal trials if its better to play your no 1 side together so they get more used to each other and working together in an easy trial over a seconds game or if its best to spread the talent evenly givng players more of a contest but less time to work with their regular team mates?
Im assuming since both ways are still done at different clubs that there's probably no definitive answer.

Personally I think the first string forward line and first string defence should play against each other so its more of a challenge either way. Then filter the midfield spots between first string and reserves guys with each team.

Does anyone know what time the Norwood V South trial starts on friday at the parade? It will be interesting to see both sides and how they have come along during the pre season.

i'll guess the usual time of 7.40pm (league), but with the heat they may put it back a half hour or so, i'm sure warren partland will have it in the paper on friday  or ring one of the clubs

with the expected heat on saturday will the trials be changed to evening matches or shorten the quarters ? even though there is a 'drinks rule' i think the health of the player has got to be paramount & this heat would have to be of some concern to all clubs playing on saturday

there is a heat policy in the Sanfl with a break after 15 mins or so i think. Longer breaks in between quaters and half time extened

Without being privy to the logistics and with a forecast of 36- I would have thought that the Dogs v Blues trial would be changed to a night game, with the reserves starting about 5-ish. Surely an option when you have the luxury of lights?

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Not at this stage, but in the paper it says that the 17s and 19s games will be played tonight. What gets me is that people have to work like me and can't make it for me to help out.

The Norwood and South squads named in today's paper.

Some familiar and not so familiar names in South's list, including Bachmann.
