I think they couldn't have it this year because of the Crows game in Dubai.

Hope they play in Dubai every year, I'll be glad if it's lost for good.

Why's that CP? The big thrashing not a good trend setter at the beginning of each year?
Because of a common sponsor, Sturt used to play the Brisbane Bears back when they were called the "Brisbane Bears" and we were called "crap". The belting we got at the beginning of those years perhaps didn't help lay the foundations for positive seasons.
Maybe there is something in that hey? Teams that get pounded by an AFL side in trial games and having poor seasons?

P.S Are the Crows playing in Dubai?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Huh? I have to change forums?
No can do! My knowledge of AFL comes purely from the side banter I read on the other forums on here. I sort of feel violated having to switch to a forum that specializes only in "AFL blah-di-blah".

Yep, pretty much for those reasons Theri ... I just don't think it does the pysche any good to cop a walk-up pummelling each and every year, kinda like starting on the backfoot.

Norwood didn't have the group to be any heavyweight in the comp in those years regardless of the Crows games, but to my mind the ONLY potential positive for the event was of a marketing and revenue nature ... Initially I thought different because most players really looked forward to it, but nowadays Im completely against it (if it were to continue, I agree with the calls of having it against the previous seasons premier).

Interestingly we copped less of a flogging back then than we did in recent times against the PAPS.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
