Rub it in why don't ya Diss?

For some strange reason, 9 and 10 - in all their wisdom - aren't showing live Saturday afternoon games this year.

10 will normally (9 never did) but when long weekends occur and games are spread out over more than the traditional 3 days they do swaps.

So near..so far..Scott West untouchable diver

Postby Rik E Boy » Sun Apr 23, 2006 9:19 am

Geelong will finish ahead of the Western Bulldogs this season. Their slide will begin when the season starts to get into the second half of the minor round and their capacity to run will begin to dry up as the young bodies begin to tire and the traditional reliance on Johnson/Smith/West returns. Minson will be back but that's it. For the Cats we've got plenty of players to come back into the side and I reckon it could be time to bite the bullet on King and make Ottens our number one ruckman as he is far more effective there than as a slow moving full forward. I think that it might be over for our Skipper. Whenever he goes down during a match it costs us (vs. Sydney, final last year and last week he lasted five minutes against the Hawks and Everitt killed Blake and we got slaughtered in the clearances).

Lovely dive from Scott 'don't touch him' West ensured that three quarters of the Western Bulldogs defeated half of Geelong but the real problem for Thompson is that we have been very undisciplined in the last two games. We gave away too many stupid free kicks and it would be nice if Matty Egan could remember how to hang on to the ball.

Geelong will be vulnerable over the next few weeks but with Scarlo back to play on Hall, get on us to knock off the Swines next week. A match against the team that kicked us out of the finals last year is just the tonic...as would be the return of some of our injured list but that won't probably happen until Rounds 7-8.

REB

I agree, Geelong are a long way off playing their best footy, so their is still plenty of improvement in their game, while I think the Bullies are playing their best footy at the moment.......

I have no doubt the bullies will make the 8, but come the big time they are a young list and a bit thin on finals experience.

Geelong, Adelaide, Saints and Eagles all have plenty of finals experience and are still the big four in my books....

Cats v Crows GF for me

REB, that sounds like a spit dummy....

Scott West IS a champion. Would get a game in ANY AFL team, no questions asked.

P.S. I'd reakon i'd swap our injuries for your injuries any day...

No dummy spit Borat, just how I saw it. A close hard fought game that was ultimately decided because a player dived on the ground. On the other hand, Geelong were very undisciplined in my view, we gave away some (genuine) stupid free kicks which cost us dearly. Another worry was letting (Gilbee?) run nearly all the way down the ground for the softest goal imagineable. Bomber was livid and so he should be.

Who are 'we' BTW Borat? If you are referring to the Bulldogs, you've got one coming back, we've got Riccardi, Harley, Kingsley, King, Playfair and Gardinner injured and Scarlo missing because a goal umpire mistook Scarlo's fist for Will Slade's knee.

BTW, Scott West is a champion, I agree and I can't stand it when a Champion dives. So far it is Matty Lloyd, Nathan Buckley and Scott West - players all who do not need to dive to get a kick have done so..there's even been a thread about it 'Spirit of the Game'. As for my Geelong vs. Bulldogs predictions for this season..well, what do you expect, me to come on and say yep, we are rank and the year is obviously over? I don't think so

The Gilbee run and bounce was amazing.

I've never seen that (in my limited brain) ever in footy before.

Off the top of my head...

Injured Bulldogs

Luke Darcy (no explanation required)
Will Minson (no explanation required)
Tom Williams (would be CHB, also a tall)
Adam Morgan (also a tall, is a hack, but had played every game this year)
Tim Walsh (knee, season as well, not in our best 25 players)

Keep up the good posting REB, you are one of the few that i always read.

Just been on a Cats site and Steve Johnson is painted as the villian there. Apparently, Steve Johnson stood next to Harris while Gary Ablett had to chase Gilbee and was miles away even as he disposed of the ball. GAJ ran back to Johnson and remonstrated with Dog who simply pointed to Harris. Sheesh, that is poor!

Come on Borat...Williams, Morgan and Walsh. LOL. Yeah, I conceed on Minson and Darcy. But those other blokes are spare parts and VFL players..we've got our Skipper and Lead ruckman, our most experienced player, our Centre half back, our Centre half forward, a back up forward as well as our Fullback out. It was three quarters of Bulldogs vs. Half of Geelong. You will only get Minson back and we will get them all back except for King who breaks down at the drop of a hat.

It will be a different story at Cat Park mon ami!

true, our clubs have a good rivalry.

I also read on another site that the mood in the crowd was terrific, a brilliant atmosphere all game, and at the end many geelong and dogs fans congratulated each other on a terrific match, no stupid stuff.

good to see.

P.S. Just updated my membership to a higher level, IF the dogs make the granny (big if) I am guaranteed a seat.

If i hadn't done it, and we had made it and i had missed out, i would have cried......

Hey REN, on "white line fever" last night, Tony Shaw, Derek Humphrey-Smith and some other bloke all agreed that the scott west thing WAS a deserved free kick, albeit West did make sure that the umpy noticed.
