Have to feel sorry for Jarrad Cotton. Only reason for moving to Norwood was to play finals football. Ended up missing the Dog Dynasty of the early 2000's. Poor guy!
Also have to feel sorry for Stephen Connelly. Pretty much did the same thing and was knocked out only seconds after taking the field for Norwood in his first final.
Cheers

Norwood and Sturt have shared plenty over the years, Winter, Barton, Bratten, Nunan, Robinson, Zubrinich, think there was a Wark or two, Im sure there's more.

Derrington, Craig, Obst, O'leary

Must have been before time Smithy, was Derrington just a junior at Norwood?

I remember him playing for Sturt in the finals series of '83. Cheeky bugger put his arms around the goal umpire as though they were old mates as the ump' signalled another goal to the Blues. I think that may have been the Preliminary against Norwood.
A few years later he ran from Sydney to Melbourne in that Cliff Young super marathon thing. Finished pretty late at night and wore a Carlton guernsey and bounced a footy as he crossed the line.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Punk, it was definately Craig Ebert as they were refering to Russel alot and Wakerie. I was working at the time so missed a few facts. Then my mind wandered.
Yep, Brownie who ran the Wheaty is the same one that played for Sturt, didn't realise he came to us from Torrens, top bloke though.
Sorry didn't read all of the posts. He was still really fit when I last caught up with him at the pub before it was sold, about 5-6 years ago.

Yes, yes he was. 20 years ago. :)

Further to BDP, Jarrod Cotton played his junior footy at either Norwood or North didn't he?

Nope, Jarrod played soccer to start with - always remember him at our junior games at Salisbury in his soccer gear (his older brother was in my team). We used to give him hell for playing soccer too. Junior footy was at least partly at Salisbury, once he finally came 'round to footy (maybe some Para Hills in there as well, not 100% certain). Then off to Centrals, Power, Norwood.

It look like there has been a pretty even movement of players between all clubs over the years. Pretty much what you'd expect I guess.

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

The bottom line is that loyalty is a lot more prevelant in footy than in any other sport, have a look at the 'sluts' that move between Rugby League, Soccer and Basketball sides in this country.

Cotton played the 99 finals series with Norwood and missed out on a GF win by a few points so in some ways he got what he wanted in his first season, but of course no one expected Central to get on a run like they have. I'm not sure he would have made some of the stronger Centrals GF sides over the years and by the end of his career injuries wore him down.

Agreed, CA. 2000 would have been his only shot. The only time I've ever known Kris Grant to support Port in a GF was 1999... Anything but a "deserter" winning a flag was OK with him at that stage.

Norwood gave Glenelg Eugine Warrior and he lasted about 10 minutes there.
What a waste of extreme talent.
Brendon Hartfield....North...to Norwood to Glenelg...he lasted 15 minutes.

Oh yes....Donald Dickie from Sturt to Norwood.

Wedgie ?......do sluts play football ?

What part of 'a lot more prevelant in footy than in any other sport' don't you understand?

I follow many sports pretty closeley but I'll be the first one to admit I'm wrong if you can show me stats to prove my statement incorrect.
I wait earnesty for your statistics. :?
