Honestly i think the club needs to appoint a no-nonsense coach, Giniver is influenced by to many'assistant coaches' and i beleive their decision making in crucial points of the game arnt correct. If the club wants to succeed within the next 10 or so years, they will have to appoint either Scott Hodges or Mark Tylor, preferably both, as their head coach(es) as these guys have the respect of the players, respect of the members and most of all a match winning ethic. Just my opinion.......

Most of my mates are Port supporters and have very little faith in Tim Ginever, Mark Tylor has been mentioned by them as a better replacement, who would have thought he would be talked of as senior coach of the once mighty PAFC, one of the more maligned players of the past.
Can't see Port finishing higher than 6th at best, and although there is no better feeling than beating them, the fear factor of playing Port is not what it used to be to say the least.

Spoke to Tylor last year in regards to the senior coaching job, he firmly explained to me that he wasnt ready for the gig yet, he also went on to explain how players (past & present), commitee members and supporters would 'stand in front of a bullet for Giniver' because of his commitment and services to the club, i totally agreed with him but we need a flag, they ousted Knights for no success, same horse different jockey............

Personally I rate Ginever, very good footy brain probably hasn't had the cattle to get the results
that Port supporters have been spoiled with over many years.Very tough gig, just ask R.F. Ebert the greatest Magpie of all.

Cant agree with you mate in regards to the cattle, we keep bringing players over from interstate, pay them a heap of coin then they piss off, our U/19's have won the last 2 flags? Port were always know and respected for the development of their juniors but have obviously fallen behind in comparison to the other SANFL clubs.
Ebert, great player, couldnt coach!

Give it to Tylor i reckon Buzz.
I heard Hodges was a big wrap for Knights so theirs no chance he'd get the gig.
He was one that was fully supportive of Matthew.

I heard he was too, but Richardson, Clayton (Bob) and the likes need to get their heads out of their arses and look for a solution to the future of the club, Hodges is and would be a great coach, has a proven record in SAAFL and has the ability to give the club back their previous glory that he personally created, time for them to wake up........

My opinion is that Knights had a terrible gameplan, average recruiting (and releasing of players) and a ridiculous gameplan. We didnt win more than 2 games in a row all year, we had a non existant forward line and quite simply we played uninteresting football. Terrible football.

Im not a huge Ginever fan and I think he has to show some improvement in his coaching this year, but hes not far off. We may have recruited big in the last three years but we needed to. What weve lacked in these years still however is depth, especially in big men. We arent far off. We lost 6 games by 13 points or under last year. We showed a lack of experience in a few of those games (WWT, Sturt, South..even Glenelg draw) and you win those games we make the finals. Shit happens.

Hopefully this year with some more experience to the younger crew and some better coaching then results may be different. Im looking mainly for improvement in the younger crew, the reserves group etc. and hopefully that is where some depth will come from.

One of teh reasons why I think Port will struggle is not becasue of the loss of recruits like Le Cras and the expreirenced heads of Wait and Poulton is that they lost two of the best young kids in the competition Greenwood and Ebert. Can't expect the U/19s to come up and contribute like those two kids did.

They really impressed me. The one saving grace is that Summerton survived the draft at least they'll get another year out of him before he goes.

Totally agree, Poulton could have played for another 3 or so seasons, Wait was on his way out and the kids were a definate to be drafted. Summerton i think will be a stayer, a bit slow for AFL at the moment, maybe a pre-season with the Power or Crows will increase his chances of being drafted.
