Don't think Modbury will have the goods to push those teams this year, Payneham might lack a little too. Will either of the teams coming up have a chance. Should be a lot more even comp though you'd hope, now that Woodville Sth and Kilburn are out, was like having 2 byes.

More so Kilburn, it was like circle work, a saturday arvo training run.
I think most clubs As & Bs hit the town friday night before they played Kilburn in 2007. Payneham didn't show in one of their games, i think their C grade played 2 games that day.
That must of been the game they lost coz only 12 players played!!

So any news on the how the weed and phos are going so far this year.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Talking to a couple of guys from Modbury last night and they think that their ins will more than cover their losses this year. Gunning from the YP is a gun and Modbury only missed out on the GF by a couple of kicks last year. I think they will do better than a lot of people expect.

The've got no show, a couple of kicks sounds very little Andy, don't let the scoreboard fall you as far as the end result.
Seaton smashed them all day, it was only the last 15 mins that they got a little run on, due to the tired legs from a hard intense 2nd semi final against Pt Districts, oh & a few hand me downs from those terrible maggots who umpired the day.
If Seaton won that 2nd semi, who knows what could of happened in the GF?
As for Modbury settle for 4th or 5th.

I can't remember exactly but didn't they beat either Seaton or Districts during the home and away games. Whose going to be better than them in div 2 besides perhaps Uni if they do get their players back?

Modbury had the wood over Seaton for the best part of the year. Unfortunately not when it counted though.

Uni will be a formiddable opponent, because they are Uni...

My mother told me to always watch out for the quiet ones  Edwardstown (remember them?) have been VERY quiet over the summer and cannot be discounted, you can't NOT rate a team that's been demoted.

PHOS have also been quiet, not much known of their goings on..I've heard that PHOS will be Glenelg unders players 1st choice of club next year if they're not playing for the Bays? Will this help or hinder? It didn't seem to do Scotch any good last year. Sure it got them to the finals, but then the Sturt boys disappeared and so did Scotch.

I just hate predicting these things until the first bounce. :(

Agree Edwardstown will be strong along with scotch and phos. is macca pulling the boots on again this year for paynham norwood. we played him in a trial 2 years ago and he still dominated. Have they picked up any more players. is Tom Javior still involved there.

The two teams that have come up are strong and the two teams that have come down are strong. Dont think there will be an easy game this year, anything can happen between 2nd to 10th I would think and its way too hard to predict! Think the Bays FC like to distribute players evenly to clubs in their district, or that is what they say anyway! Scotch are always a side that finish between 3rd and 5th

Jarv-wah (as I like to call him  ) may end up coaching the C grade again.. not sure.. he's pulled on the boots a few times over the last couple of years and sat in the goal square, he's got a pretty handy boot too..

Macca says he's given it up, but I'll believe that when I see it. He's the coach and if he wants to pick himself that's his perogative. He drove me nuts with his yelling from the sidelines when he was injured at the beginning of last year. If he has finally hung 'em up Im glad I won't be on the sidelines to hear him this year.

New players? I HONESTLY have no idea, I think we had a couple of beauties that had signed on the dotted line that fell through for one reason or another, but other than that Im clueless.. sorry.

Glenelgs theory is to issue all clubs in their area with the names of players that may not get a game at the same time. However I think sometimes one particular club in the Southern league seems to get a bit of a head start.

yeah I didn't think the story had much truth to it, but was told that it was a new initiative this year that was organised between the club and the Weed. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you hear.

SANFL clubs have no real say over where players go, they can suggest a club (which the young kids will normally take up) but in the main blokes can and do end up everywhere.

I can tell you that we lost 2 Sturt blokes last year because they were told to go to Scotch, apparently Scotch was their "preferred" club. So any kid who comes straight from the country will be sent to Scotch at the recommendation of the Sturt FC.

We managed to keep one, only becuase he had signed with us before training with Sturt, but Sturt tried their hardest to sign him up at Scotch too.. we wouldn't release him, so he stayed. Unfortunately we won't see much of this kid this year as he dominated in the Sturt ressies at the end of last year.

edit: Just to add to this - I understand Sturts theory in wanting to keep their players at the one club so they're still playing together etc.. but it is unfair to other clubs
