27.16.1748 to 13.8.86 Final.
Geez, that hurt. I hope there are plenty of people at Unley who can still remember
the dark ages (89-96) and can pull us out of this before we go back to this era.
At least we kept it under 100. It doesn't look like we're going anywhere this year
so let's hope North don't waste this oppurtunity.

THAT would have been a great crowd considering they only got 600 more at last weeks double header and that North were short favourites and looked like they would do on paper what they did which is why i didnt go.

Did sturt run around in circles handballing?

Cheers Spelly. I've been in Victoria 11 years now and I was trying to think when the last time we won a game by that sort of margin and I was pretty sure it was before I moved here. I was at both those games, wish I'd been there tonight.
Christ I'd better kill this online radio Bob Idiot has just started.

Btw, I have a couple of questions for you in the last posts of the Glenelg players list and Sturt players list. It is in regards to if the players I have posted played for North Adelaide or not.

i had to leave for work just as gill was on his onslaught...and to find this...ouch...

that hurts...north only needed 3 qtrs of that type of dominance, just imagine if they were switched on from the first bounce...

great to see our youngsters in there, they are the future of the club, but we just havent got the cattle this year and north were too bloody good..(stating the fkning obvious i know)

oh well sturt, we have come back from worse...bring on next week...where ill stay up all night to listen...

Great meeting and sharing a few beers with ORDoubleBlues tonight, a great bloke and Drebin was amazed that there was one Sturt supporter who knew the facts behind the Castle Plaza Tavern Deal. Look forward to catching up with you next time ORD!

Pics of the game will be up later tonight.

I took photos of the first 20 mins 2 weeks ago and North were 6 goals to zip down and I stopped and we kicked arse after that.
I took photos of the first quarter tonight and North were behind to Sturt and went on to win by over 90 pts.

I don't think I'll ever take a photo again! :?

Thanks for those spelly, here's a few more from statsman on the Roost:

Further Stats broken or of note:

Nick Gill 9 goals is the most ANY player has kicked against Sturt at Adelaide Oval - and that includes Farmer. Farmer only met Sturt at Adelaide 3 times and kicked bags of 3,4 and 5. He also kicked 4 10-goal bags against them at other venues)

Highest goalkickers for North vs Sturt at Adelaide:
9.3 goals - Nick Gill (TONIGHT)
8.3 - Brendon Parker (Rd 25, 1995)
8.2 - Nick Holland (Rd 17, 1992)
7.0 - John Roberts (Rd 17, 1987)

North's 27.16 (178) is their HS ever against Sturt at Adelaide Oval and second at any venue (HS overall is 27.18 (180) @ Prospect in Rd 16, 1990)

92 pts margin is the club's 2nd best against St at Adelaide Oval (won by 93 pts in the 1973 PF)

North's 9-goal 2nd Q isn't their best 2nd quarter against Sturt at Adelaide. We kicked 10.5 in Rd 6, 1995. However we equalled our 3rd quarter record (we kicked 9.4 in Rd 8, 1991)

You must remember when you look at these records that we have played Sturt at Adelaide Oval 54 time back to 1901.

No suprise the result maybe a little the margin in the end but North had too many guns plus a bloke named N. Gill who was nothing short of sensational tonight and deserved a 10 goal haul. Clearly the best forward in the SANFL. Considering Cox, Koops, Hargs and Howard all copped injuries and we still have to "slot" back in Ladhams, Walker, Alleway and Coulter not to mention next weeks inclusion Josh Francou things are looking "rosy" at Rooster land but still it is a long season and anything can happen.

The only thing Sturt lacked tonight were a couple of bigger bodies as targets up forward or as defenders which may have curbed some North run (not sure who would have stopped Gill though?) but they are not that "far" away despite the result but lacking confidence becaiuse they have no big man strength.

I have got to ask - "What is wrong with Thurstans?" - apart from the obvious! He is clearly distracted by "Off field events" that everyone who follows football knows about so why not give the bloke some time off to work out what he wants to do because clearly he did not look very interested tonight - IMHO? Plus Gill gave him the biggest "bath" on the Adelaide since Hargy kicked 13 against South in 2002 including 8 on Perrie (ironically now a North player!)

All I can say is bring on next week at the Bay. Right now if you framed a market North would be $1.50 - $2.00, Glenelg $2.00 - $2.50 (I'll let Punky provide the proper odds)

I really keen to see where we are really at. At the minute you'd have North as favourites, which is what is good for us. We can just go out and play.

Looking forward to catching up with the Snouts for the first time and the North supporters on this site.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I picked North to win, but not by this much. I believe that Sturt has played 2 night games and have been beaten by heaps in both of them.

That'll be easy for ya Tassie as both groups stand in "Grog Squad Pocket" at the Baya aka the south western corner.
Last year we had a ball, I and a group of about a dozen stood just behind the fence, we had the snouts louts over our left shoulder and the Grogs over our right shoulder. I cheered all day for Lucas Herbert, my favourite footballer in the whole wide world!
