"Sturt, as good as they are, can't win from here" - we won by 7 points.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

My all time favorite...
1975 Grand final....a real tough hard physical game.....a classic
Half way through the last quarter....

Max Hall......Who do you think from here ?

Ian Aitken...Glenelg will win they have too many great players all over the ground and are playing too well.

Wally May....mmmmm....Bays.

Max Hall......Norwood for mine !

Sends shivers down my spine !

Commentators on the Pine Lodge DVD from Rd 23 2007:

"We'll I'll as about to say then Damian, Sturt didn't even give me time to say it that's how well they're playing but if it gets out to 50 then you can basically say its all over for North Adelaide. I think they'd never... Sturt would never let them come back from 50 points down"

"But also you've got to consider too North Adelaide wouldn't want this to blow out to a 70 point loss after a convincing defeat over West Adelaide but to come out and go down by about 15 goals wouldn't be a good way to approach the Bays next week."

"Well, it would affect their morale no end and I'd say its too late now, that's uh 50 points up, it'd be almost impossible."

Final score:
North Adelaide 15-12 102 D Sturt 15-5 95

Yes and reading the responses here to the 1975 Grand Final.....locky801 Norwood won by 10 points.... it was also the birth of the " Squeeler tag that Glenelg were so famous for for the next twenty years or so.

Brian Johnson, commentator during an England vs West Indies Test match, reportedly described the action as follows:
"The Batsman is Holding the bowler's Willey."

This has to be the best line from a sporting commentator ever!

..sorry for being pedantic, but i think the exact commentary was "The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey".

Listening to the cricket World Cup coverage online they were trying to describe the weather conditions and one of the commentators (Aggers I think) announced that 'Umpire Bucknors trousers are full of wind'...rest of the commentary team descended into schoolboy giggling session.

Well that was the first GF the bays lost after winning that classic GF of 1973.
From this point on.....1975...the Bays lost a truckload of GF's to us in 1982 but mainly to Port. Sadly it was always someone else's fault...not their own fault...hence the Squeeler tag !
