Stephen Eichner

Postby pipers » Wed Jan 30, 2008 11:15 pm

Just read in the Port newsletter that he is training well and on target for a Rd 1 return.

Great news!

Also Clive should be back in Rd 4 or 5.

Just noticed this has been posted on another thread.

Deserves its own thread though...

I agree, and I hope the bloke makes a successful comeback and returns to the level he'd reached prior to his terrible injury.

well was it his uncle or father that played at west torrens in the mid 80's or is that a different Eichner.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

I was referring to his red hair, nothing else - no basis in fact for my previous post (which would surprise very few people, I'm sure)...

I still remember that injury against Western Australia... when they showed the replay on the big screen all you could hear was this chorus of "oooooooooohhhs" and "aaaaaaawwwws" and "f*@# me's". It still sends chills up my spine.

I think the one from the 80's was Dale Eichner who was from Lock (same club as Greg Mellor). Since i noticed Steve Eichner break into League footy with PAMFC i've wondered if he is related to any of the Eichners around the Eyre Peninsula.

I'm fairly certain Stephen's old man (Bob) played some footy for Salisbury (as did Stephen), not sure of where he came from prior to that though.

it was one of the most 'sickening' injuries i've ever seen, good luck to the lad who is a good classy footballer but i don't want him playing well against the tigers

Michael is Stephen brother, back training with the League and Ressies and Port now, played 19s there the last couple of years.

Both were from Salisbury and played college footy for Trinity out at Gawler.

its funny though, steven was never a big name at the school, unlike duds like the whiston brothers and more average players walton and kinnear.

steven seems to have trumped them to be trinity's best footballer. (there may be others i just cant think of them now)
