GF Adelaide Oval

so sturt won the first ever grand final at footy park is that anymore important than glenelg winning the last ever grand final at the adelaide oval ?? & it could be reversed in the next year or so, it could be the last ever grand final at footy park & the first 'in the modern era' grand final back at the adelaide oval & if it does happen soon it could well be centrals to win both3

And that is where it should be. It hold about 30 - 35 k , so how good would it be when we get 2 traditional sides in there and sell it out. Sorry but Eagles, West & South v anybody wont sell ( maybe South cos people like them as their second side but that would only last 1 year) . Even North last year having been missing for a long time V Centrals the crowd was disappointing, OK ,but I thought more. The great thing is its central to all and all the sudden you have to have a ticket otherwise its sold out unlike now whre you can just turn up. So that means people will buy earlier , more chance to it being a sellout , more publicity because its a sellout and more interest. Just like a Crows game people will go because its " an event" not just a footy game. This should be one of the easist decsions the SANFL can make. Plus its much better to watch footy there than footy park.

Anyone agree ?

Maybe but what happens when it's either Port, Norwood or Sturt playing each other and 40 - 50k want to go.

50k wont go. But if 35 - 40k want to go it creates more interest cos its a sellout , which you wont get with a lot of sides. Sturt , Norwood , Centrals & Port(??) ( at a stretch Glenelg) combo will get 35 - 40. The bigest crowds in the last 10 years at a GF - Sturt V Port & Sturt v Centrals.

The sooner this move is made the better , dont forget TV crowds , how bad does the SANFL look at games when there is noone there , how good would it look with 30k at Adelaide oval ??

if the 'big 4' & centrals atm played in a gf i think they'd get close to 40,000 if not a fraction over
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

All GF should be at AAMI regardless of the crowd!

AAMI is the home of the SANFL, and thats where the GF should stay, enough said :)

The western area is getting revamped.
Who gets to use this area? SACA members. Members who support cricket!!
Agree with woodwt, leave it at Footy Park/AAMI.

Yep I'm with WoodWT and HBT

Footy Park is the home of Football I'd personally like to see more finals there (definately the PF) and keep the GF there too

It rewards the SANFL players who are good enough with the opportunity to play on the home of footy in this state

Don't get me wrong as an Adel Oval member I love the place and it is my 2nd favourite SANFL venue after the Bay but the GF should stay at Footy Park.

I'm defiantely agaisnt home club finasl too. Adelaide Oval or Footy Park for mine certainly not that craphole The Barton
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I would have thought the 'big 4' are Port, Norwood, Sturt & North, based purely on Premierships won.

Obviously the term was coined during the halycon days (60's - 80's) of the competition when the SANFL was the biggest show in town (pre-AFL) and was based on the league's biggest crowd pullers, ie. Port, Norwood, Sturt & Glenelg.

I know this has been done to death.

If you were to do a 'big 4' now, again based on crowd numbers, it would be more like (in no particular order) Central, Sturt, North & Port/Norwood.

In Adelaide I reckon we're pretty lucky really that nothing is much more than 45 mins away (naturally there are exceptions).

If your team is playing in a Granny, or even a neutral game you want to see badly enough, I can't see that travelling is that difficult.

SACA will do a deal with SANFL and everyone will be happy.
Great to have choices. Adelaide Oval for me...far better than that West Lakes disaster!
I think our greatest hope is if the World Cup Soccer comes to Aus in 2015 or whenever it is and we as South Aussies are part of the deal, and they have to create a brand new state of the art stadium, and locate it closer to the CBD, public transport etc.
West Lakes will be Over and Out with any luck!

New configuration at adelaide will bring it up from current 32,000 to 35,000. SACA members will be approx 10,000 leaving 23,500 for general public if you have 1500 for guests of clubs and league and mini league etc. Plus AAMI stadium members get in free to GF - assuming they can fit in with SACA members is 23,500 general public tickets (18000 adults, 5,500 kids?) enough?

I don't see Aami Stadium as the home of SANFL, only one SANFL game is played there every year.

A crowd of 30 thousand is much better suited at Aami, Adelaide doesn't have enough seating and is quite cramped when full.

And thus the discussion should be ended as no, 23,500 tickets is not enough.
