Dont think Robbie McKinnon would have been drafted in '82 - didnt come to Westies until '83.
Reckon he was drafted to Geelong in about '85 or '86 but never went.

Sorry, 1986 of course.
But he never went over, and played 257 games for Westies from 1983-1996.

Just searchng for something else and stumbled across this thread.

I was at this game and remember there being about 15,000 in attendance.

Before the game I thought it was a ridiculous idea because the crowd of course would have no firm allegiance to either side as most clubs had their players interspersed between both. For example Sturt had Whittlesea playing for Country and Paynter playing for City.
I went because I couldn't stand a weekend without football. But the crowd was largely disinterested in the game, just general crowd murmurs for each goal scored. Maybe larger cheers if someone took a big mark.

IMO a much better idea would have been North vs South. ie:

Central, North, Port, Woodville, Torrens
vs
Sturt, South, Glenelg, Norwood, West
