It raises an interesting point thought - why do teams wait until mid Jan (or in the Power's case not yet announced) to appoint their Captain?

Surely this should be done well before Christmas so you have a leader on the track when all the hard work is being done? IMO leadership at this time of year is critical to a clubs success come the real stuff, the squad spends more time together in the pre-season than they do during the season.....baffles me....surely you know in November who you Captian is going to be.... :?

I think in Pt Adeliade's case they want to see if tredrea will get thru a full pre-season.

yeah that is a valid point but i like the idea of giving players the oppourtunity over pre-season to show they want to be captain. some players may push a bit more knowing that they have a chance of captaincy by proving themselves thru all pre-season.

Surprised personally- Neitz is too injury prone of late to effectively lead on field I would have thought...

No questioning his leadership qualities.

yeah i find this strange, he is injury prone, and he is coming towards the end of his career, i think Melbourne should have done what Essendon did with James Hird, let Neitz just concentrate on his footy and not have to worry about the captaincy. If Neitz wasn't the captain, i would probably think Brad Green or Cameron Bruce....
