wayne stringer told me that he had russell johnston in a headlock in a push'n'shove that involved almost every player of both teams on & over the boundary line at footy park & that he wasn't frightened of any player hitting him from behind but was aprehensive about this woman abusing & shaking her umbrella at him
those were the days

You're going on about these comical and tough Glenelg players roughing up Port players, a skinny ruckman, and Tony Giles, a bloody tough "ball playing" defender. Was curious to see if you've got some stories about any of them roughing up Greg Phillips..although i think i already know the answer.

And whatever you're saying Phillips did, i'm sure the Stringers and Salisbury did something equivalent in every game of their career. And I also think the damage from a headlock, with a potential for choking, could be more serious than any "kneeing" that may occur.

i did say intentionally & no i haven't been to every game for the last 80 years or so but i have been to every game since 1972 & i'm not saying we have always had angels the thread asked for funny stories & those 2 i found & still do find funny, you don't have to find them funny but you should be able to read without getting all offensive about it, this is one of the reasons why people dislike port because they can give it with the best of them but can not take it
