very shocking news.

I'm not buying the "no suspicious circumstances". (just personal opinion)

Very sad - certainly one of the best talents going around, particularly given he was capable of doing many different sports.

IIRC some time ago I heard Rex say that Clinton got his first job calling footy after he sent in a demo tape of himself as a member of the public - a kid had rung in to ask how he could get in to commentating and Rex said that anyone could by way of Clinton's stunning story.

UPDATE: THE sports world is in shock following the suspected sleepwalking death of young gun footy caller Clinton Grybas.

Friends and family of the 32-year-old found dead in his city apartment today said they understood he had died after hitting his head while sleepwalking.
They recounted incidents where the 3AW and Fox Sports figure had frightened himself by waking on his 15th floor balcony.

In another sleepwalking incident, Grybas thought an intruder had given him a headwound after hitting his head.

Police said there were no signs of assault or struggle.

Devastated girlfriend Laurenna Toulmin and Grybas' family members were reeling from the shock . Fox Footy colleagues who were with him at a barbecue on Friday night said he was at his happiest.

"He was brilliant. In the best form that I've seen him in for a long, long time," friend Tiffany Cherry said.

Vic Grybas speculated overwork might have contributed to his son's death. "He came home we don't know when. He's either fallen or collapsed or whatever, we don't know," he said.

In 2003, Grybas told a reporter: "I guess the workload is a bit of a problem (socially). But I'm having the time of my life. I've never been in a situation where I've hated going to work."

Older brother Ashley said Grybas' girlfriend was away at the time and heard of his death while on her way back to the city. "She's very devastated, like his mum and dad," he said.

Alerts were raised when Grybas failed to show for his Sports Today radio broadcast at noon.

His girlfriend called his Southbank apartment block and staff found Grybas lying face down on his bedroom floor after a neighbour could not get him to answer his door. Police attended the scene after 12.30pm, but said they found nothing suspicious.

"There was no sign of foul play, no signs of any struggle, no sign of any assault," Sen-Det Gerard Whelan said.

One of if not the best sports callers i have heard. After the cricket coverage on 891 this afternoon they played a short tribute to Clinton including a couple of his more memorable calls. One was the women's Water polo side winning gold at the Sydney Olympics. Made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. He was brilliant and way to young to be lost.

RIP Clinton.

Im in shock, Ive known Clinton since the 90s when he hosted the ABC NBL show and moderated the ABC Basketball forum which I made the most posts on.
Had the pleasure of meeting him on a half dozen occasions and he's just like he is on TV, a genuinely nice bloke who will talk to anyone.
Mrs Wedgie quite often paid me out about him when he came on the TV as the first time I went to meet him I nearly fell over the steep concourse at the Clipsal Powerhouse as it was then known, she thought I was in love with him.
I feel honoured that he knew Wedgie from Adelaide.
Followed his career closeley, the ABC forced him to give up his TV NBL gig when 3AW offered him a gig and he rightfully went on to bigger and better things.
Always the best and most versatile commentator going around for many sports IMHO but Im biased having known him to a small degree.
Absolutely devestated. Ive never been so in shock from a death announced on TV as this one. I always meant to catch up with him every time I went to Melbourne but I kept putting it off till my next trip, but I'll never get that chance now.

RIP Clinton.

No worries mate, my honour, Clinton had so much going for him and he truly was a fantastic bloke. I can only console myself in the fact that I met him and knew him well for quite a while mainly by the internet but in person as well.
We had a close knit community going at one stage and quite a few of us met him and I can quite truthfully say noone ever said a bad word about him.
It might sound a bit silly when I say was going to catch up with him but Im sure if I'd emailed him or left a message time permitting he would have still caught up with me for a beer.
He loved Collingwood by memory but Ive never heard anyone say anything he commentated might have been biased when the ABC shafted him myself and quite a few others protested to the ABC about it.
If anyone had said hello to him like I did many times he would have always had that big smile on his face and loved chatting sports to them.
A genuinely nice guy who was ultra talented at what he did. Had so much going for him, even recently turned down a lucrative ESPN contract to continue doing what he loves.
It'd hard for me to accept so I hate to think of how hard it is for those who knew him a hell of a lot better than me can come to accept it especially his lovely partner, Laurenna.
I'm geniunely in shock about this news and am very upset.

Wow, that's pretty humbling Wedgie. Heard it on radio during the cricket also, gotta say I was quite shocked.
