Leading Goal Kicker for the Crows in 2008

Postby Sojourner » Thu Dec 20, 2007 12:49 pm

Interested in your thoughts on who you feel will be the Crows leading goal kicker this season now that Scott Welsh has left for the Bulldogs?

In Zac Milbanks article today, the following names are mentioned as candidates,

Brett Burton,
Jason Porplyzia,
Bernie Vince,
Scott Thompson,
Simon Goodwin,
Tyson Edwards,
Andrew McLeod.

My tip is Tyson Edwards, Naturally Burton could and probably should be seen as the favourite, yet I feel that Edwards has a little more to add to the club just yet!

If the Crows rely on Tyson (a midfielder/small forward) to top their goalkicking this year they really are gone

My tip would probably be McGregor.

I'm hoping Hentschel has made a good recovery, or that one of the tall kids will come on fast. None of the others listed seems to be strong enough to take contested marks, or to kick many goals unless the mid-field is well on top and delivering perfectly, which doesn't look like being reliable. Then that was Welsh's limitation too.

Gilly will be the leading point scorer and Hentschel will do alright if his knees good. He seems to have bulked up a fair bit, but whether he'll haave the power in that leg is another matter.

No matter how good your midfield is, you need key forwards that can kick you goals.

If you are going to throw names like Porpy, Vince, Thompson, Goodwin, Edwards and Macca then boy oh boy are Adelaide in trouble. Look at WCE in 2006, they had an incredible midfield but still had a KPP that kicked over 50 goals.

Need Burton, Trent and Gill and co to do the brunt of the scoring, especially Burton if he is a stay at home forward.

John Reid.
Reidy is going to be doing everything at The Crows next year. He is after all God's gift to football. Check out his illustrious career with South's seconds if you don't believe me.
