The ship Jumper is outing himself,

For one reason - I am proud of my change but I am no stranger to this concept....Allow me to elaborate!

I am a born and raised Rugby League/Union man.....From NSW

I support the West Tigers (Balmain) and the Tah's

Upon my arrival in Adelaide near 5 year ago I found myself surrounded by arial ping pong......and slowly but shorely developed a taste for it.
Until I met my current wife of nine months and brother in-law (I won't mention blue boys name) I was extremley vulnerable to my surroundings and flavour in teams.

SANFL - I selected Sturt initially - living two blocks away form the ground, it seemed like the right thing to do. However I just had no interest. Until I met my Rooster mad family in-laws and it seemed like the right thing to do. (Part reason Blue Boy may have reservations about me)
I went to one game, then another, and another and now I must say I am HOOKED on the Roosters - PUNK you sat opposite me at the Rooster presentation night - Think hard!
I don't care about the GAYFL at the end of the day, I love the SANFL and would trade Two Tiger premierships, A QLD reds wooden spoon and as much crappy pale ale required to see North win a flag.
I missed out this year but having Don lindner for breaky before the game was as enjoying as watching the Roosters come back and beat Sturt that DAY!!!
I WILL NEVER CEASE TO BE A ROOSTER

AFL - I initially barracked for PORT - my excuse - Misguided...That's in the past

Crows - The whole family thing again, but going to the Crows games was boring, no parking, no beer at the seats.....Craaaaap

Collingwood - Someone once said to me, a team picks you and you don't pick the team, well I picked Collingwood, and the basis of my decision has nothing to do with a roudy night on the grogs with black and white mate, as we hate each others taste in sporting teams - Until now. I like them because everyone hates them and I wouldn't have had this much publicity if I hadn't jumed on board, I would be another lame Crows suppoter sitting at home and pondering next years re-building plans......In fact I am so happy about being a woods supporter I might just go and pay for my membership now!

I'll be back right after the break!

Now I am back.

So keep the slander and heckling coming and remember last year I did a pre-season at Modbury - Finished it at Willaston and then played for Athelstone!

Anyone who wishes to vent to me personally is welcome....Just look for me, I am missing two teeth, Have bleached hair, I kinda of look like a Nathan Buckley meets Dale Thomas crossed with Some tall player that plays for Colllingwood, minus the skill but with intelect.

Thanks for your time, have to go and iron my gold jacket for round one!

Ben

That would encourage me to go to a game if I were anywhere near where one was being held, but the rest of what you say makes a certain sense.

However, my wife's weird PA Magpie and Power supporting family could never turn me from Norwood and the Crows. I miss the NWD vs PA arguments I had with her old man now the hot-headed bully boy is gone.

Good Luck with your new allegiance - except against the Crows.

Blue Boy I must say I was as surprised as anyone who knows Benny. I did test him out to make sure that he was making a life decision and not one on a whim. the only way any of us will find out will be when the leather is kicked in anger next season. I do know however that he has been dissinterested in the crows for sometime so not surprised that he turned his back on them.
But as a wise man once said to me " You don't choose to barrack for Collingwood, Collingwood chooses you." and I think this is the case with him. Should be interesting debate at the dinner table on christmas day.

He will have to live or die by his decision. And we will get drunk doing it. Your always welcome to join us Blue Boy :D

Blue Boy,

Mrs Offense has some severe reservations about the change and their have been arguments.........Which are resolved by my singing stubby opener!

Roosters are $%#^$% - Yes I am well aware of your hatred of the Roosters.......

CHIEF - Wanna get on the grogs and talk about changing "A - League" teams?

Good old Collingwood forever, la da di da da di daahh!

Yes, I do remember you from the B&F Count.
Btw, can anyone blame him for jumping?
People jumped off the Titanic as it sank?

PS- Fitzroy are always welcoming new players in the Amateurs... (a lot of Collingwood supporters there too)

While I can fully understand someone not wishing to follow the blackbirds next season I am totally mystified as to why they would want to follow Collingwood.

Perhaps near enough is good enough. Enjoy the fruits of the soft draw that get you into, but don't prepare you for finals.

I reckon if i was choosing a new team where i had no link to any particular club, i'd consider things like whether or not the club managed to live up to its hype through its on field success - in Collingwood's case its a massive hype. Collingwood supporters really believe they are the greatest club in the league and i really have no idea what it is that could back this up.

Collingwood .... not THERE'S a bandwagon

Offensive Line it doesn't sound like you were a massive Crows man instead sort of followed them by default

So if you've finally found some passion for an AFL team good luck to you

But Collingwood???? :? :vom: :D

Well I wasn't a massive Rooster fan, I followed them by default, having said that I developed a passion for them and the default has turned out to be great.

The same with Crows, however seeing the fans sitting in their sober seats clapping there hands to a song that rips off the famous "Halls of Montezuma" wasn't as inspiring compared to a night at Hamra, standing next to the groggies and hearing some of the wittiest heckles.......That's footy!

Collingwood??? - They are a passionate club, if you ever get a chance, read a book "The barrackers are shouting" some of it is boring but some very inspiring...At the end of the day we get alot out of our footy, inspiration, passion, pride, commitment etc...You need a team that you feel a connection with to achieve this.

Some of the simple things about footy make it more nostalgic,

I.E walking past Barrie at the Merch stand, seeing the groggies take position at the Taj, Getting a snag from Smithy at the BBQ....
Collingwood - ANZAC day, The Carlton rivalry, Joffa, Eddy, Buckley, Bob Rose.....These things get the inspiration going for me.

Thats all
