Whoops. Stephen Doyle is now 'retired' from AFL. (The Sydney administration have an amazing ability to persuade players who are under contract, but on the outer, and nowhere near retirement age, to 'retire'. It's all about the salary cap.)

BPBRB, I have no doubt that what you had been told is true. May the best chequebook win, and here's hoping he can get out on the park for a full year, for the first time since... well... ever.

Did South give him his overseas holiday to think about re-signing like he asked a few other clubs he wanted???

or has he got 3 (sorry 2, North weren't interested in the charade) overseas trips to take before christmas? 8)

I can't believe Sydney delisted Luke Vogels and Simon Phillips. They were the future, but now aren't

Time has told.

If his body stands up there's no reason why Doyle shouldn't be amongst the best big men in the league. Good news for a change.

Confirmed on the Norwood web site that Doyle has signed with Norwood, as has Matt Davis, a former North player who was signed with the Swans for a couple of years.

Norwood must be breathing a bit easier now that they have Doyle, considering Nicholas has headed off to Hahndorf

And if he stays fit and a few more sign on after the rookie draft watch out!! Norwood have needed a ruckman and fast centreman for years and now we are finals bound!!!!

Steady on. We need two or three more quality onballers before I think we can improve, let alone play finals.

Settle down Fester. If you can honestly put your hand on your heart and tell me that we don't need five or six top notch players to come into last year's team to improve it then I'd like a copy of your prescription please.

And I go to as many games as you so don't try pulling that one on me either. :D

If Stephen Doyle and Chad Gibson both play every game, Norwood will make the finals.

My reasoning is: given the injury history of both of them, the chances of this happening are so slight that if it does happen, Norwood will have every bounce of the ball go their way this year!

I'd love to say we will make the finals next year but I’m afraid I can’t see it happening, at least not yet. We were unbelievably poor this season; the 150 point loss, the shocker against Sturt on a freezing Friday night, the thumping against a Dogs team playing at about 50%, so many humiliations and it’ll take a while before we’re a true finals contender.

We just have too many holes. We STILL lack key defenders, we need a speedy wingman and a hard running midfielder who can go forward and kick 2-3 goals, and we need some more KPP’s. The recruits sound promising, and I hope we find another Campbell, but I'm not quite as high on our chances for next year as you are.

Still plenty of work to do for the Legs, and I certainly wouldn't be tipping them for the finals at this stage, could change though, still too early to predict.

One trap I think us Legs fans have fallen into (probably other clubs supporters at times aswell) recently, is to only look at the improvement and development within our own ranks when evaluating where we should finish up, without paying attention to how other clubs are improving lists that start further advanced than our own.

With so many old faces gone from the Parade and new ones expected to arrive, it still remains to be seen how the playing group bond and gel together both on and off field, and what the quality of said recruits is like.

Stand by what I say, Norwood WILL make the finals in 2008 and I expect a few paleys to come my way whan we do!
I dont think we need 5 or 6 players at all, only 2, a quality ruckman and a fast centreman, I reckon we've got both now and with Gibbo coming back _ bonus!!

Season 2007 is dead and buried now!

Glad to see you go to ALL games as well Topsy, we just need to get a few more of our mates at every game as well! My prescription is:
PASSION!!!
